		Welcome to EuroLiveScores' coverage of the first game of Day 3 at the 2013 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup. First on tap today is Russia vs Finland. Finland, who sit top of the group with five points simply need to take the game to overtime in order to qualify for the semi finals. For Russia, only a regulation victory will do
		Pavel Baulin has made a few changes to his team. Firstly, Maxim Sidorov gets the start in goal in place of Sergei Korobov, while they have also made a change in the captaincy. Ivan Nikolishin has been stripped of the C, and it has been handed to arguably Russia's most impressive player through two games, defenceman Eduard Nasybullin
		The anthems are over, and we are about ready to go in Piestany.
		Well we were ready to go, but it appears that there are some problems with Sidorov's equipment.

	01:00	First shot for Russia comes off the stick of Yevgen Svechnikov, but Kahkonen gloves his shot on the turn
	01:48	Damir Sharipzyanov fires a looping shot from neutral ice which Kahkonen catches but keeps in play. Russia go offside ten seconds later
	02:33	Juho Lammikko strays offside for Finland
	02:50	Ilya Dervuk forces the turnover and leads the rush single handedly. He fires high and wide though.
	03:21	First penalty coming against Team Russia. Ilya Dervuk gets two minutes for interference
	03:38	Russia clear the zone for the first time on the PK
	04:19	A fantastic piece of play by Damir Sharipzyanov, winning the puck in his own zone and taking it all the way up the ice and firing a wrist shot which Kahkonen does well to save without a rebound.
	04:38	Great poke check by Boikov, knocking the puck off the stick of Rantanen who was winding up to shoot from the right wing
	05:01	Yegor Tsvetkov fires high on an unmarked one timer
	05:21	Russia back to full strength. They had more chances than Finland whilst playing shorthanded
	07:01	Finland go offside. Good period of zone time for the first time in the game for the Finns

	08:08	Russia moving the puck well but failing to really generate much. A good block by Atte Makinen off a shot from the hash marks sends the puck into the mesh
	08:27	Great blocker save by Kahkonen on a Sleptsov rocket

	10:00	Ten minutes in and FInland have yet to really put any form of pressure on the Russians. Have barely tested Sidorov
	10:31	Svechnikov shows off his footwork by taking the puck from the left wing, around the goal and turning back in front. He gets a low shot away but Kahkonen gets down low and makes the save.
	10:48	Goal for Team Russia! They've been much the better team so far, and their domination has paid off as the Russians take the lead mid-way through the period. The puck was worked back to the shot and ILYA DERVUK fires a hard slapshot from the point with Yevgeni Svechnikov in front. The screen pays off as Kahkonen is unsighted, and it's 1-0 Russia
	11:47	Goal for Team Russia! It's two goals in 59 seconds for the Russians! They gain the zone again,and the shot is fired from the left wing by KIRILL PILIPENKO and Kahkonen gets beaten at his near post. The Finnish goalie would want that one back.

	12:45	Deflected point shot by Rouhiainen goes just wide of Sidorov's right hand post
	13:25	The Russians are swarming all over the Finns at the moment. Vladislav Kamenev goes close but his move to the slot is cut out by the two Finnish defencemen
	14:04	Finland go offside on the rush.
	14:42	Yevgeni Svechnikov is all over the ice at the moment. He gets another shot away but it's deflected by the stick of Niku and goes sailing over the glass.
	16:14	Big blocker save by Kahkonen to deny Ivan Nikolishin
	17:12	Goal for Team Russia! A calamitous mistake at the blueline by Parikka sees the Finnish defenceman blow a tire. Artur Boltanov picks up the puck, takes it down the left wing and dishes to MAXIM RYZHKOV in the slot. The Russian winger fires a low one timer which goes through Kahkonen's five hole, giving the Russians a 3-0 lead.
	18:19	Penalty against Russia. Kirill Pilipenko will sit for two or less for slashing
	18:54	First real test for Sidorov comes with 66 seconds left in the first. He makes a smart pad stop then sprawls to get the rebound.
	19:00	Another penalty coming against Team Russia. Kamenev takes a tripping penalty, giving Finland 1:19 of 5 on 3 powerplay time.
	19:08	The penalties keep on coming. Joel Kiviranta and Eduard Nasybullin have both been sent to the box. The former for tripping and the latter for a high sticking call.
	19:36	Fantastic block by Sharipzyanov to get in the way of a Kalapudas shot. The Russian defenceman looks hurt on the play and practically crawls off the ice.
	19:56	Fantastic save by Sidorov in the dying seconds, getting his pad to a Niku point shot. Fortunately the rebound bounces over the stick of an unmarked Teemu Lamsa at the back post.
	20:00	1st period finished.
		A frantic end to the first period as the penalties started to rack up. However, Russia managed to keep the Finns out in the final minute of the period and hold on to their 3-0 lead after twenty minutes. That was by far the best period of hockey the Russians have put together at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup this year. Finland are going to have to turn it around if they want to advance to the semi finals.

	21:37	A calamitous giveaway by Keskitalo in his own zone gives Pilipenko two great chances to score. His first shot is stopped by the pad of Kahkonen while the Finnish netminder catches the second chance effort in his glove.
	23:12	Goal for Team Finland! Straight off the draw Finland get a goal. MARKUS HAAPANEN picks up the puck from the faceoff and fires a shot from the left wing circle which beats Sidorov
	25:44	Russia are able to kill the Eduard Nasybullin penalty
	20:01	Start of 2nd period.
	26:12	Ivan Nikolishin gains the zone with speed and fires a low knuckling wrist shot which Kahkonen has to work hard to catch and hold on to
	27:02	Artur Lauta tries the wraparound but Kahkonen freezes the puck
	27:20	Goal for Team Finland! Things are getting interesting now. Finland's top line cuts the deficit to one as a shot from the left wing circle by JUHO LAMMIKKO seemed to get deflected on the way through and eludes the grasp of Sidorov.
	29:30	Penalty against Finland. Sami Niku gets two minutes for tripping
	29:58	Great passing play by Russia as they are able to find Ivan Nikolishin ghosting into the slot. The Russian forward gets the shot away but it rings the bottom of the post.
	31:20	Great glove save by Kahkonen on an Eduard Nasybullin point shot.
	31:56	Another golden opportunity for Russia. Yevgeni Nazarkin gets the shot away. Svechnikov crashes the net but the puck just eludes his stick and it goes wide.
	32:20	Svechnikov gets another chance later in the shift but Kahkonen gloves his shot attempt. The Finnish goalie is fighting the puck today. Not looking as confident as he has before.
	32:33	Penalty against Russia. A two minute hooking minor for Nikita Lyamkin
	33:49	Mind-boggling powerplay tactics by the Finns. Jere Rouhiainen spends about ten seconds with the puck behind his goal waiting for the Finns to set up the powerplay. His pass then misses two players and goes for an icing.
	34:56	Two minute penalty for hooking against Russia's Svechnikov
	35:13	Goal for Team Finland! We're all tied up here in Piestany. The Finns win the face off and work the puck to the point. There SAMI NIKU unleashes a rocket of a shot which beats Sidorov, and after being 3-0, the Finns are now level.
	35:37	Penalty against Finland. Joel Kiviranta gets a cross checking minor.
	35:47	Daniil Vovchenko's hard slapshot hits the outside of the post!
	36:49	Great work by Maxim Lazarev down the right wing. His centering pass just misses the tape of Radel Fazleyev and the puck sails into the corner
	37:32	Fantastic move by Kirill Pilipenko, deking past two Finnish players at the right wing circle. He takes the puck to the slot but doesn't get all of the shot and Kahkonen is able to deny him.
	37:37	Finland back to full strength
	38:30	Ilya Zinoviev does well in the neutral zone to break away from his marker, but a desperation poke check by Manu Honkanen knocks the puck off his stick
	39:00	Final minute in the second period.
	39:23	Vladislav Kamenev fires a hard slapshot as he gains the zone. Kahkonen gloves the puck and holds on for the whistle
	40:00	2nd period finished.
		And so a fantastic second period for Finland draws to a close. Two goals four minutes apart for Markus Haapanen and Juho Lammikko drew the Finns close, before Sami Niku's point shot tied the game at 3-3. The Russians stared to show some of their first period magic late on in the second frame, but we have a mouth watering third period in prospect.

		Both teams are out for the start of the third period.

	40:32	Penalty against Finland. Juho Lammikko fires the puck over the glass for a delay of game penalty
	41:11	Finland clear the zone. Great interplay by the Russians at the blueline but Nikolishin fumbles the puck
	41:58	Goal for Team Russia! The Russians re-take the lead less than two minutes into the third. It's MAXIM LAZAREV with the goal, as the future Cape Breton forward crashes the net and manages to bundle the puck over the line.
	42:20	Lamsa fires wide from the left wing circle
	42:52	Goal for Team Russia! For the second time this game the Russians have scored two goals in the space of a minute. This time it's ARTUR BOLTANOV, gaining the zone and firing a hard shot which Kaapo Kahkonen can't stop. Incredible game.
	43:44	The Russians are dominating. Kahkonen has to make a fantastic pad stop to deny an Ilya Zinoviev backhand attempt.

	45:14	Mikko Rantanen takes it upon himself to try and get Finland back in this. He gains the zone and fires a shot which Sidorov spills. Lamsa and Lammikko crash the net but the Russian netminder is able to get down low and freeze the puck

	47:13	Marvellous individual by Daniil Vovchenko. The Russian forward creates three chances for himself. Kahkonen stops the first two and a few seconds later Vovchenko fires over the bar

	48:40	Lammikko tries to put the puck in on a wrap around but Sidorov is aware to the danger and freezes the puck
	49:02	Yevgeni Svechnikov gains the zone with speed, drops the puck to Lauta, but his shot is saved by Kahkonen
	49:12	Svechnikov then takes an offensive zone penalty. Poor play by the Russian forward.
	49:12	Finland have made a goaltending change. Voutilainen gets his first taste of action at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup
	50:23	Russia clear their zone. FInland yet to create much on the man advantage
	51:07	Finland's powerplay comes to an end as Juho Lammikko takes a cross checking penalty. Five seconds of 4 on 4 before Svechnikov's penalty expires

	52:15	Fazleyev gets a shot away from the right slot but Voutilainen makes the save.
	52:36	Neutral zone giveaway by Pilipenko gives Joel Kiviranta a great chance to score shorthanded. He fires a hard slapshot which Sidorov just gets the top of his glove to, deflecting the puck into the corner
	53:07	Finland back to full strength. Voutilainen stops a Dervuk shot as the penalty expires
	53:53	Goal for Team Russia! Surely that's Russia's place in the semi finals secure. They kept the pressure on despite the powerplay expiring, and smart work at the point by Ilya Dervuk, who finds his D partner YEVGENI NAZARKIN drifting in to the left hand circle, and his shot goes top shelf, beating Voutilainen

	57:32	Goal for Team Russia! Yegor Tsvetkov fires wide on a shot from the neutral zone, but the Russians are able to keep the puck in the zone and eventually score in the empty net.
	59:00	Final minute in the third period.
	59:24	Penalty coming against FInland. Great footwork by Artur Boltanov forces the hook from Markus Haapnanen. Additionally Atte Makinen is handed a two minute penalty as well, making it a 5 on 3 for Russia.

		That's all she wrote in Piestany for the first game of Day 3. Russia put in a fantastic performance to bounce back from the loss to the U.S.A. and defeat Finland 7-3. The Russians jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but were clawed back in the second period. However, a 4-0 third period saw them overpower the Finns who will now hope for a Slovakia victory over the United States
