    This is the opening game of the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship, Division 1, Group A in Přerov, Czech Republic.

    The game features the host team from the Czech Republic against France. Both teams are new to this group. The Czech Republic finished 8th in the top division last year and were relegated to Division I, while France won Division I, Group B and were promoted to Group A.

    The Czechs with four power plays in that middle period and Aneta Tejralova finally score on the last one to take the lead in this game. France was back on their heels but got one great chance when Lara Escudero was hauled down on a shorthanded breakaway, but missed the following penalty shot.

    So the first game of this Women's World Championship, Division I Group A, is in the books. A 3-0 win for the Czech Republic, and it could have been worse if not for the goaltending of Caroline Baldin. France stayed even for a while, not surrendering a goal until the last minute of the 2nd period, but ultimately the Czechs were just too much for them to handle.
