Finnish team was almost perfect in the Round of 32. Kärpät cleared Dusseldorfer EG in both cases – in away game Oulu won 2:0, on the home ice gained a 3:0 win.
But in the Finnish Liiga it's not "the old good Kärpät" on which we were used to in a few previous seasons. Kärpät is still quite good defensively, but in offense was forced to do some changes. Finnish team lost two key forwards before the season – Joonas Donskoi and Joonas Kemppainen – but was able to able to replace them with their young prospective players. Lets see how Kärpät's hame will look like in Prague.
Czech team advanced to the Round of 16 thanks to two wins against Swiss ZSC Lions Zurich. In home game Sparta won 3:2, at Zurich ice gained a 3:0 win.
But in upcoming series with Kärpät Sparta will miss one of the key players – Martin Reway. Young Slovak said he doesn't want to play for Sparta because he isn't satisfied with his position in the third line. Sparta didn't tolerate his behaviour, so Reway was sent to the Czech second league to play for Benatky nad Jizerou.
