A valiant performance there from the team making their Champions Hockey League debut in Davos tonight.

Once they had found their feet, got used to the pad and settled into the game, they held Davos for long periods, and even managed to push the hosts back in their own end. Their goalie Dany Sabourin had a solid game, and kept them in it early. In the end the skaters just couldn't create enough dangerous situations around the Davos net, and the hosts seemed to just pick their moments to counter, and made it count when they did.

Thank you all for following, the hosts the HC Davos make a successful start to their 16/17 campaign, we'll see you here again in 2 weeks for the visit of Djurgarden IF. (22:06:21)

    Final score:

HC Davos 4 Rouen Dragons 1

    Third period shots on goal:

    HC Davos 12 (40) – 16 (35) Rouen Dragons.

    Game over.

5 on 3 for Davos, but I feel that a fifth goal for them would make the scoreline look out of proportion, and wouldn't be a fair reflection of what we saw during the game.

    58:20
Penalty for Rouen Dragons (Treille – 2 min., unsportsmanlike conduct).
Penalty for Rouen Dragons (Dorey – 2 min., holding).

    58:00
With two minutes left to play, the score is now 4-1 for HC Davos, and the visitors from France have just fallen short here tonight. They have matched the Swiss for most of the game, but just couldn't create enough big chances to keep Davos pegged back.

    57:12
    Goal for Davos!
    Scorer is DARIO SIMION, unassisted.

    57:01
    BIG SAVE Sabourin.

    56:30
3 and a half minutes remain in this one and it's now or never for Rouen.

The shots on goal are now even at 31 each, but in this period it's been all Rouen with 12 shots to just 3 from the hosts!

    54:17
BIG SAVE, and then off the post.

A Rouen odd-man rush almost pays off, but for a good save by van Pottelberghe and the rebound shot just missing the target, instead ringing off the left post – that was it right there, the visitors maybe won't get a better chance than that in thelast 5 minutes.

Today's attendance in the Valliant Arena in Davos, is 2812. Considering the beautiful hot weather Switzerland is having, and the fact that it's still holiday time, that's really not bad at all.

Faceoff win by Rouen and the puck is sent goal-bound. van Potelberghe fishes it out of the air and it remains 3-1 for HC Davos.

    47:27
Off the line!! Davos managed to get the puck onto the Rouen goal line, but a Dragon's Dman casually sweeps it away to safety, big moment that!

    46:35
Rouen Dragons will be happy so far in the 3rd, they soaked up a few early breaks and have had the lions share of the possession since then.

    43:09
Davos come close there, and Dino Wieser looks to the skies, he knew he should've done better with that one in the slot.

    40:44
An early chance for the Dragons sees a save forced by the Davos netminder whose name is too long to remember!!

Joren van Pottelberghe is his full name by the way.

    40:01
