Thanks for following our live coverage from Zug.
    Good night. (22:55:26)

Esbjerg Energy have the two games versus IFK Helsinki left on their schedule, with their home game in Denmark next on Friday 9th September 2016 – and they start into this duel one point clear of the Finns.
The Swiss side and fans of EV Zug can now look forward to the round of 32, starting with first legs on 4th October 2016.

What a piece of hard work this game turned out to be for the home team of EV Zug. Although it might have seemed unlikely after their famous 8:3 win when the two teams met for the first time just over two weeks ago in Denmark, tonight's game proved to be a highly open and tight one. The Swiss side clearly had much more of the game throughout the 65 minutes. However, the name of Esbjerg Energy goalie – Mads Soegaard – surely will not be forgotten too soon in Zug. He threw in an outstanding effort to win his team a well deserved point – their first in the Champions Hockey League.
Credit to the visitors who provided another proof of how much Danish ice hockey improved in the last few years.
Zug's fans were happy after the game, anyway. They saw a lot of their young prospects on the team roster tonight – and their team sealed the top rank in group G with a total of now 11 points from 4 games!

Total shots on goal: EV Zug 43:17 Esbjerg Energy (7:5, 17:7, 15:4, 4:1).

    Best players tonight:
Forward Nolan Diem for EV Zug.
No hard guess in Esbjerg Energy's case – goalkeeper Mads Soegaard fully deserves to win this award with his brilliant performance!

The home crowd are celebrating their time, namely young goalkeeper Fabio Haller, who kept a clean sheet in the penalty shootout.

    Game over.

Zug's iconic JOSH HOLDEN converts his attempt in the penalty shootout with a nice backhand shot and wins the game for his team!

Can Elsbjerg Energy goalie Mads Soegaard crown his outstanding performance tonight by winning his team the extra point?
Or will Zug's experience win this shootout?

After 65 minutes we are still looking for a winner. And we will find who it is in the penalty shootout, coming in a few moments.
