Man of the match for the Nottingham Panthers: Craig Kowalski.
This is one for the highlight reel folks. It's a defensive breakdown by the Freezers at the attacking blueline, and Nathan Robinson beats his man to the loose puck in the neutral zone. He feeds ROBERT LACHOWICZ, who takes the puck skating backwards, pulls a 180 degree turn before deking Kotschnew and scoring on his backhand. Assisted by: Nathan Robinson, Chris Lawrence. 3-1
Shots on goal in the second period (totals):
Nottingham Panthers 12 (23) Hamburg Freezers 10 (22)
It's an absolutely stunning piece of play by the Panthers with the man advantage. The home side keeps puck possession and it is worked behind the goal to Robert Lachowicz. The British forward finds NATHAN ROBINSON coming in off the left half-boards and the Panthers forward fires an accurate one timer past Kotschnew.
Assisted by: Robert Lachowicz and Evan Mosey. 2-1
Shots on goal in the first period: Nottingham Panthers 11, Hamburg Freezers 12
The Freezers are level. Only their second goal of the Champions Hockey League, and it's a soft one on Craig Kowalski. MATT PETTINGER keeps his legs moving and cuts from the right hand side of the zone and beats Craig Kowalski from a tight angle through the five hole. Assisted by: Thomas Oppenheimer and Martin Sertich. 1-1
A great shift for the Nottingham Panthers and they make it count. Greg Jacina was integral to the build up, and the puck is worked back to the point to Stephen Lee, whose shot is deflected, but only to his defence partner CODY WILD, who with Caron out of position, fires the shot into the gaping net. Assisted by: Stephen Lee and Bruce Graham. 1-0

In fact, Hamburg will be looking for a win to get their season going, as the Freezers have lost the opening four games of their DEL season. Even on home ice, the Freezers have struggled, losing 3-1 to fellow CHL opponents Kolner Haie at the weekend. The side has only managed 8 goals in 4 DEL games and a solitary Adam Mitchell strike in the 4 CHL games so far.
Hamburg will be looking to get their anaemic offence rolling against what has so far been the worst defence in the CHL. The Panthers have conceded 29 goals in 4 CHL games, and arguably it has been goaltender Craig Kowalski, who has been one of their better players. Kowalski was rested for Sunday's EIHL Challenge Cup game against the Coventry Blaze, meaning that the American shotstopper will be fresh to face the Freezers. The Panthers have had a mixed start to their Elite League campaign, with injuries continuing to plague the side. David Clarke has yet to ice this season, and fellow top British forward Robert Farmer has been sidelined with a broken foot. At the weekend the Panthers picked up a tight victory over fierce rivals the Sheffield Steelers before the aforementioned loss to Coventry.
The Freezers also have injury problems of their own, as star defenceman Christoph Schubert, Brett Festerling, Frederick Cabana and Philippe Dupuis have all spent time on the treatment table recently.
The Cramo Top Scorers for both teams are:
Nottingham Panthers: Brandon Benedict
Hamburg Freezers: Adam Mitchell
Both teams will be desperate for a win to claw something back from their CHL campaign, and build momentum from the season, and when the puck drops at 20:30 we will have all the coverage.
