IFK Helsinki
Tuesday 06.10.2015, 19:45 • Vaillant Arena • Champions League • 1/16 Finals

    Welcome. Game starts at 19:45.

“We have a chance, will you be there?” asks HC Davos’ website in the build up to tonight’s game, which sees the Swiss side just needing a goal to level the tie against Helsinki. In their first CHL season, Davos have overcome Farjestad and Pardubice to get this far.

Their opponents HIFK beat Karpat 3-2 over the weekend to come into the game off the back of a win, and are aiming to make the last 16 for the second year in a row.

Tonights hosts HC Davos have found some hot form coming into the second leg of this CHL tie with IFK Heksinki, having won their last 3 games in the Swiss National League. They'd had a slow start to the league campaign, but now sit in 4th place, directly behind Switzerland's other survivor in the 2015/16 CHL, the Zurich Lions.

Keep your eye out in particular for number 31 Marcus Paulsson, who leads the league in goalscoring with 7 in 9 games. Center Perttu Lindgren has lead the playmaking for Davos with 8 assists, with captain Andreas Ambühl also finding his scoring touch again, notching 2+5 in his 9 games. These 3 players are on a hot streak at the right time, and each have 4 points in their last 3 games.

HIFK Helsinki are in a very similar position to Davos, lying in 4th place in the Finnish LIIGA. They are also HOT right now, with 8 wins in their last 9 games in all competitions. 6 of those games were decided by one goal, and 4 went at least to OT so it hasn't all been plain sailing!

Juuso Puustinen is their man with of the moment, who with 6+4 in just 8 games is 4th in league scoring.

    40:00
    2nd period finished.

The second period ends just as the first did, all square. The visitors from Finland still have a one goal lead overall in this tight tie, it currently stands at 4-3.

HC Davos just couldn't make their domination count, firing off a massive 20 shots to 7 in the middle stanza. Will they be made to rue these missed chances or can they find the cutting edge from somewhere? Who wants to be their Johnny on the spot!?

Helsinki will be happy with the scoreline here as they have been under a lot of pressure, especially in the latter stages of that second period – if the scores stay as they are, it's the Finns who will be in the draw for the last 16.

3rd period begins at 21.20 CET.
