		Frantic scenes at the end. Finland threw everything but the kitchen sink at Pavelec and the Czech Republic in that third period. they hit the bar with 12 seconds to go as the puck looped up off of Pavelec's stick and onto the cross bar, but that was the closest that Finland would get to beating the NHL netminder. The only goal of the game was scored by Petr Nedved, whose wicked wrist shot in the 18th minute was the only thing separating the teams. 		Another closely fought period. This time it would be fair to say that the Czechs were the better side in this period, but towards the end Finland began to show some sign of life. We'll be back for the third period at approximately 19:05.

	29:15	Scramble in front of Rask, who is sprawled on the ice. Irgl and Novotny get a number of whacks at the puck. Surely a premature whistle there from the officials, but the puck doesn't cross the line.

		We're about to get back underway in Turku.
		A very tight first period by two evenly matched teams. It would be fair to say that Finland have looked the better side on the puck and have generated more time in the Czech zone, but the Czech Republic look dangerous on the counter, and do now have a one goal lead thanks to Petr Nedved's goal with a little over two minutes left in the period.

	19:46	Good passing play by the Czechs. Irgl gets a one timer shot from the right slot, but Rask stops it with his pads.

	18:34	Michal Vondrka jumps the D and gets a breakaway opportunity, however he is denied by a fantastic diving poke check by Vaananen
	17:48	Goal for Team Czech Republic! Great work by Petr Koukal on the forecheck, winning the puck back in the slot. He finds PETR NEDVED and a perfect pick by Michal Vondrka allows Nedved to cut in from the left hand side, commit Rask to the butterfly, before firing a wicked wrist shot high over the Boston Bruins netminder's shoulder.
	17:40	Koukal fires on the spin. Rask saves and the puck trickles agonising past Nedved's stick.
	17:10	More pressure on the Czechs after great play by the Lehtera, Enlund and Salminen line. However, they don't generate a chance.

	12:57	Svoboda fanned on the puck behind his own goal. However, Haataja shoots wide on the chance generated.
	11:40	Pihlstrom tried to cut to the centre from the right wing and fire a quick wrist shot, but Pavelec was equal to it all the way.

	10:51	Jakub Kovar sped through two Finns in the neutral zone, entering in on a two on one with Svoboda. However, the young forward couldn't centre the puck and it gets knocked away.

	09:51	Hagman tries to jam it in on the wrap around, but the Czechs manage to keep it out.
	09:17	Almost a catastrophe for the Czech Republic there. A centering pass by Koivu goes off the back of Caslava's skate and almost past Pavelec. Quick reactions by the Winnipeg Jets netminder stops the puck from crossing the line.
	06:43	After that opening flurry, the rest of the Finnish powerplay has been woeful. They ice it for the second time.

	05:30	Very good opening thirty seconds on the powerplay for Finland. They get the Czechs scrambling across their zone. Only great defence by Novak denies a golden opportunity.
	05:10	Looks like the first penalty of the night is going to the Czech Republic. A mix up at the bench as Svoboda goes over too early, knocking the puck away from the Finnish forward, and the penalty is for too many men.
	04:01	Good defence by Caslava helps the Czechs clear the zone. Vondrka can't do much with the puck however.
	02:56	A long dump in by the Finns is covered by Pavelec under pressure.
	02:20	Nakladal with a point shot after good play by Jiri Novotny. Stopped by Rask. A few seconds later, Novotny winds up a booming slapshot which Rask does well to stop.
	01:33	Good puck possession by the Finns. However the Czech defence does well in the circumstances, allowing them to counter attack. Koukal doesn't have many options and fires a low shot which Rask easily stops.
	1:03	Vondrka gains the zone for the Czechs, but the Finns are easily able to break up the attack.
	00:35	Finland open the game by gaining the Czech zone. Very good play by Pavelec to deny a Finnish opener.

		It's the battle of the locked out netminders, as HC Plzen's Tuukka Rask takes on Bili Tygri Liberec's Ondrej Pavelec. Pavelec has not got off to the greatest of starts with his Czech Extraliga club, and replaces Alexander Salak, who played very well for the Czech Republic in the first game.

Both teams played their first games on Wednesday, where the Czechs defeated Sweden 3:1, with all the goals coming in the third period. Finland defeated Russia in that night's evening game, 2:1 in a shootout.
