    Real Madrid earned their 7th consecutive derby win against Atlético Madrid. The home side invested a lot more into this game and was rewarded with goals by Ronaldo and Özil. Real could have even won higher as Ronaldo hit the crossbar with a free kick and the left post in a counter attack. The guests were too harmless and their offense had almost no chances against a good-working Real defense.

    This year Real Madrid is not in the usual role of a favourite when Atlético Madrid visits the Bernabeu stadium for the city derby which is a classic of Spanish football. After 13 matches there is already a huge gap of 8 (!!!) points between third-placed Real (26 points) and second-placed Atlético (34 points) which as the only team can stay in touch with league leaders Barcelona (37 points). In the media Real head coach Jose Mourinho already has been questioned in recent weeks. A derby loss today would endanger his job even more.

    If Real can use the derby for a prestige win or if Atlético can continue their superb season - it will be a very emotional game in any case.
