After a two month long streak with at least a point in very game ended for Avangard a week ago, they already earned another two wins against Donbass Donetsk (2-0) and Lokomotiv Yaroslavl (4-2). Torpedo had two wins and two losses in their last four matches and most recently played against Traktor Chelyabinsk (3-1) and Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk (3-4).
Avangard's three top scorers are Tomas Zaborsky (28 pts), Sergei Kostitsyn and Alexander Frolov (both 27 pts). Torpedo has Dmitri Makarov (30 pts), Mikhail Varnakov (27 pts) and Martin Thörnberg (26 pts) who are by far the most successful players in their team.
When both teams met in October, Torpedo won with 7-3, but the situation is different now and everything but an Avangard win would be a huge surprise.
