Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk are 4th in Kharlamov Division with 57 points in 39 games. With a four-point advantage towards the non-playoff spots in the Eastern Conference they have best chances to reach this year's Gagarin Cup playoffs. For today's guests SKA St. Petersburg the situation is even a lot better. They are leading the whole KHL with 86 points in 39 games and can already plan with the playoffs.

Most recently Neftekhimik had a negative trend with three consecutive losses, twice against Ak Bars Kazan (2-3 OT/2-4) and CSKA Moscow (1-3). For SKA 8 wins in their last 9 games - and the only loss being against top team CSKA Moscow (1-2 OT) - are very promising.

The hosts' three topscorers are Renat Mamashev (33 pts), Petr Koukal (30 pts) and Yegor Milovzorov (21 pts). SKA's topscorers are Ilya Kovalchuk (35 pts), followed by Patrick Thoresen (30 pts) along with the trio Tony Mårtensson, Vladimir Tarasenko and Kevin Dallman (all 25 pts).

Both teams met for the first time this season in early October and Neftekhimik gained a surprising away win (3-2 SO). If they can surprise SKA once more or if the favourites from St. Petersburg grabb all three points, we'll see today.
