And LIONEL MESSI gets his first of the year 2013 in an official match just after half an hour. He shoots the penalty into the left corner - from the shooter - and makes it 4-0 !!
Suddenly an amazing through-pass to PEDRO RODRIGUEZ who wins the duel against two defenders and lobs the ball over Casilla for the 3-0 - after only 26 minutes!
After a nice tic-tac-toe combination PEDRO RODRIGUEZ stands at the six-yard box and scores the second for Barca already !
With their first real shot on goal the home side gets in front through XAVI !! Iniesta has a lot of space, gives a flat pass into the six-yard box and there Xavi is left completely alone and shoots the ball past the chanceless Casilla.

FC Barcelona is on top of the Primera División and more or less unstoppable this season. Of the 17 games they played so far they had a 16-1-0 record with the only loss of points being against Real Madrid (2-2). They are clearly dominating the league and their 57 goals scored are extraordinary, especially in comparison with the other teams in the league. They already have 9 points more than second-placed Atlético Madrid and 16 (!) points more than their archrivals Real Madrid.
Before the matchday Espanyol Barcelona was the third-last in the table with only 15 points in 17 games. Still they had a very positive trend with four consecutive unbeaten games, in which they gained six points, including a 2-2 away against Real Madrid.
The head-to-head record doesn't give much hope for a surprise today as FC Barcelona has won their last three matches at home against Espanyol by not even getting one goal against but at least Espanyol gained two wins and five draws against the star team FCB in the last 12 matches between the two sides.
