Dinamo Minsk are 8th in Western Conference (4th in Tarasov Division) with 56 points in 42 games and still need every single point to have a chance to make the playoffs this year. Today's opponents Sibir Novosibirsk are not much better positioned as 7th in Eastern Conference (3rd in Chernyshyov Division) but at least they have a six-point distance towards the non-playoff spots with their 65 points in 41 games.

After a successful six-game home stint, Dinamo Minsk grabbed five points in their last three away matches, including wins against Atlant Moscow Oblast (1-0 OT) and Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod (2-1). After an almost perfect three-game road trip, Sibir struggled a bit at home and only won four points in their last three matches in their own arena.
