    It was not a convincing performance by Ak Bars Kazan but in the end they won it like a top team. Two deflected passes - one into his own net by Mamashev - and an empty netter not only made a 3-0 win for Kazan possible but also a 2-0 lead in this playoff series.

    Eastern Conference winners Ak Bars Kazan showed a demonstration of power yesterday in the series opener against Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk. In the end it was a clear 5-1 win. With his shorthander around "half time" only Yegor Milovzorov brought a bit of tension into this match.

    If Ak Bars gets another favourite win or if Neftekhimik can surprise them, we'll see this afternoon.
