Getafe CF are 8th in Primera División with 43 points in 29 games. They are just three points behind the European spots and only five points behind the Champions League qualification spot. Today's opponents Atlético Madrid are 3rd in the league with 61 points and should qualify for the Champions League relatively easily with their 13-point advantage to the 4th spot. There big goal though it is to end the season ahead of their big city neighbours and archrivals Real Madrid who have one point more.

After a high loss on the road against the big FC Barcelona the underdogs from Getafe had a very successful unbeaten streak against Celta de Vigo (3-1), RCD Mallorca (3-1), Real Zaragoza (2-0), Levante UD (0-0), Athletic Bilbao (1-0) and Real Betis (0-0). For Atlético the last weeks were rather disappointing with only four points in four games, including a 1-1 at home against Valencia CF in the last match.

The head-to-head record of the two teams is in favour of Atlético who also won the last two matches against Getafe but haven't won in Getafe since 2008! If Getafe can surprise them, we'll see soon!
