The Danes tie this game. A great effort from Kim Staal, who circles the net and feeds MORTEN POULSEN at the far post for the tap-in. Assist: Kim Staal.
Just after a great Danish chance, the Czechs come back the other way and score. It wasn't their most dangerous chance of the game, but defenceman ZBYNEK MICHALEK took a slapper from the top of the circle that beat Nielsen high to the glove side. Assists: Petr Hubáček, Ladislav Šmíd.
Shots on goal in the 2nd period (and game): Czech Republic 10 (17), Denmark 5 (9).
3rd period begins at 17:53 CEST, 11:53 EDT.
Apparently it was tipped, as the faceoff is being moved to centre ice.
Hanzal apparently alright, as he was seen limping off the ice at the end of the 1st period.
A news flash from Helsinki--France beats Russia 2-1! Unfortunately, we have no coverage of that game.
Shots on goal in 1st period: Czech Repblic 7, Denmark 4.

This marks the first appearance of Czech goaltender Ondřej Pavelec. The Winnipeg Jet was named to the team immediately after the end of the NHL regular season but he suffered a shoulder injury in practice and missed the first three games. He was brilliant in 2011 in Slovakia when the Czechs won bronze. For Denmark, Simon Nielsen starts in goal. In two previous starts, he stopped 48 of 53 shots and picked up the Danes' only 2 points so far in a 3-2 overtime win over Slovenia.
The Czechs are led in scoring by Jakub Voráček and Jiří Hudler with 3 points each so far--Hudler has scored 3 of the team's 5 goals so far, and the team will try to generate offence from more sources today. 11 of the 23 players in their lineup come from the NHL, third-highest of any team in the tournament, with 5 more from the KHL.
Kim Staal leads Denmark with 3 points, while Morten Green leads with 2 goals. The team has 3 NHLers in its lineup today--defencemen Phillip Larsen of the Dallas Stars and Oliver Lauridsen of the Philadelphia Flyers and forward Mikkel Boedker of the Phoenix Coyotes. The team will soon be joined by Nicklas Jensen of the Vancouver Canucks, but he won't play today.
