		Austria gained the big surprise against the favourites from Slovakia and beat them in shootout to go past Germany with now 5 points. For Slovakia this is another big disappointment after the loss against Latvia yesterday!
		Game over.
		THOMAS VANEK scored the decisive penalty for the Austrian win in shootout!
		The last Slovakian shooter is stopped by Starkbaum!
		Thomas Vanek gets the puck past Stana and fires it into the right corner – the lead for Austria!
		Tomas Zaborsky tried to get the puck through the five hole but Starkbaum had his pads in between.
		Michael Rafl tried to deke out Stana but the angle became too sharp and he only hit the side netting.
		Bliznak starts the shootout for Slovakia. He tried it with an early shot towards the right top corner but Starkbaum blocked the shot wide.

		The Slovakians are the favourites for the shootout but if they can make it, we'll see soon.

	59:44	Welser with a check against Radivojevic close to the Slovakian net but they can't keep the puck inside their zone.
	59:30	Turnover by the Austrians inside the neutral zone but during the following counter attack the Slovakians skated into an offside call.
	59:06	Miroslav Satan (Slovakia) gets two minutes for high-sticking. He hit Michael Raffl in the face with his stick! A very crucial situation now and a good opportunity for the Austrians to get all three points!

	48:03	Delayed penalty against the Slovakians. Austria immidiately try it with a fast counter but the pass by Baumgartner for Koch was a bit too long and sharp so that he wasn't able to get a break away.

		Slovakia had more and the better opportunities in the middle period but Austria scored the equalizer with a blue line shot by Unterluggauer late in the period. Shots on goal: Slovakia 23 (35) – Austria 9 (21)

	39:58	Slovakia try it with a shot from the face off towards the right corner but Starkbaum makes a glove save.
	39:55	Peter Ölvecky tried to surprise Starkbaum with a shot from just left to the net but the angle was very sharp so that he kept the puck outside.

	37:05	Crash of several players just in front of the Austrian net but the game continues without a break.
	36:47	After the Slovaks won a face off on the right circle they tried it with a blue line shot that was easily stopped by Starkbaum.

Stana had no time to react as two players – one of each team – stood direclty in front of him. Assisted by Gregor Baumgartner and Daniel Oberkofler.

	27:30	Not much of a class difference in this match but still Slovakia have their small 1-0 lead.

	23:01	2-on-1 counter for Slovakia but Martin Bartek tried it himself with a fast shot from just before the left circle. The puck went into the gloves of Starkbaum without any danger. Wasted opportunity.
	22:17	The Slovaks claimed a good goal when they battled the puck into the net from short distance but the referees decided the efforts of the forwards were not correct as they pushed Starkbaum into the net.
	21:00	The Slovakians started very aggressively into this period. Their head coach must have found the right words in the dressing rooms.

		In an even first period Slovakia was the slightly more active and dangerous team and gained a deserved 1-0 lead after 20 minutes. Shots on goal: Slovakia 12 – Austria 12

	19:44	Michel Miklik with a shot from the left circle, the puck went just wide past the left top corner and even touched the side netting.
	18:55	A lot of puck possession for the Slovaks inside the Austrian zone but no chance.

He then turned around quickly and fired the puck into the right bottom corner! The Austrian goalie looked a bit surprised and wasn't able to avoid the goal against! 		Yesterday's surprise wins by France and Latvia have changed the situation in the Helsinki group completely as the last five of eight teams are now all in a situation where they could either reach the quarterfinals or even be relegated. Slovakia convinved against France (6-2) and Germany (3-2) but suffered painful losses against Finland (0-2) and especially Latvia (3-5). On the other side Austria only were able to win one game so far, against Latvia (6-3) while losing against the USA (3-5) and direct competitors France (1-3) and Germany (0-2). Both teams need a win to reach their WC goals this year.
