    Austria gained the big surprise against the favourites from Slovakia and beat them in shootout to go past Germany with now 5 points. For Slovakia this is another big disappointment after the loss against Latvia yesterday!

    Yesterday's surprise wins by France and Latvia have changed the situation in the Helsinki group completely as the last five of eight teams are now all in a situation where they could either reach the quarterfinals or even be relegated.

    Slovakia convinved against France (6-2) and Germany (3-2) but suffered painful losses against Finland (0-2) and especially Latvia (3-5). On the other side Austria only were able to win one game so far, against Latvia (6-3) while losing against the USA (3-5) and direct competitors France (1-3) and Germany (0-2).

    Both teams need a win to reach their WC goals this year.
