France (6 pts) and Germany (7 pts) both had hoped for a win by American earlier today against Slovakia but after a great performance the Slovakians won 4-1 and earned the last quarterfinal spot in the Helsinki group as they now have 10 points and won both the games against France and Germany.

This leaves this match rather meaningless for France and Germany who also can't be relegated anymore after the loss by Austria yesterday in their last match against Russia.
