    Both Finland and the USA played an extraordinary tournament and could reward themselves by winning the bronze medal this afternoon in the match for the 3rd place.

    Both teams were in the Helsinki group together during the group stage. While Finland were able to take the first position with an impressive 4-2-0-1 record and 16 points, the Americans became third with a 5-0-0-2 record and 15 points.

    In the quarterfinals Finland beat outsiders Slovakia 4-3 while the USA butchered the Russian tournament favourites 8-3. In the seminfinals though both sides lost – Finland were beaten by tournament co-hosts Sweden 0-3 and the Americans lost with the same result against the surprise team Switzerland.

    In the group stage the USA won relatively easily 4-1 against Finland. Today though everything is open again.
