		Italy wins the game for the third place of the 2013 Confederations Cup with 5-4 after penalty shootout (2-2 after extra time). The Uruguayans can be proud of their team that was very close to a win in the 30 minute overtime!
		Game over.
		And Gargano's shot into the left bottom corner is saved easily by Buffon! Italy wins the third place!
		Gargano now has to score for Uruguay to keep his team alive.
		Giaccherini scores with a shot into the right bottom corner while Muslera was on his way into the other direction – 3-2 Italy.
		Terrible shot by Martin Cáceres into the right corner and Buffon is there with an easy save – still 2-2.
		De Sciglio with a shot into the left corner, half height of the net and brilliant save by Muslera – still 2-2.
		Luis Suárez very calm with a shot into the right corner, sends Buffon into the other direction – 2-2.
		El Shaarawy with a well-placed shot into the left bottom corner while Muslera was in the other direction – 2-1 Italy.

		Aquilani's penalty goes into the right top corner – no chance for Muslera who was in the right corner – 1-0 Italy.
		Forlán starts the penalty shootout for Uruguay but his terribly placed shot is easily blocked by Buffon who barely had to move – still 0-0.

		Extra time stayed goalless despite several good efforts by the Uruguayans and for the second time in this tournament a penalty shootout decides over the destiny of the Italian team – although this time it will be less relevant than against Spain in the semifinal.

	119	Uruguay still looking for the decision in the last minutes! After a powerful shot by Gargano it was Cavani who appeared alone in front of Buffon to take the rebound but his shot went wide past the right post – he also stood inches offside as the assistant referee saw correctly.

	116	Again Cavani, this time from the border of the Italian area, but his shot went over the crossbar once more.
	115	Now Cavani tries it with a shot from the right half of the Italian box but he misses the target clearly.

	100	After a nice through ball Luis Suárez was forced towards the endline where he went down and wanted a penalty – absolutely hilarious! He should be lucky not to have been sent off for a dive!

		A great second half in which Uruguay had more of the game is over. First Cavani scored the 1-1 for Urugay before Diamanti and again Cavani with brilliant free kicks made it 2-2. It will be interesting to see which team has more energy left for the following 30 minutes of overtime as several players already had to fight with cramps in the last minutes of play.

	70	After all the pressure the Italians finally react with a player change. In for De Rossi is now Aquilani.
	69	Álvaro González has the next big opportunity for Uruguay but his shot from about 20 metres distance goes just over the crossbar!
	68	Buffon keeps his team in the game with a huge double save against Diego Forlán!! And after the following corner he is also there to catch a header!
	65	It isn't yet a good half for the Italians who currently barely make it out of their own half due to the high pressure by their opponents.

	58	Goal for Uruguay! After a beautiful attack EDINSON CAVANi scores the equalizer for the South Americans! Walter Gargano did most part of the job by giving a perfect through ball to the left side of the Italian box from where Cavani had no problems to get a shot into the right bottom corner past the surprised Buffon!

		Despite the heat in Salvador both teams showed a lot of passion and offered a great first half with best chances on both sides. In the end a somehow lucky goal after a free kick cross led to the so far lone goal that was enough for a 1-0 half time lead for Italy. Stay tuned for the last 45 minutes!

	45+1	The Italians are passing the ball without looking for offense currently and even play a pass back to their goalkeeper Buffon – the fans are not really happy about that.

	42	A curler by Candreva from the left border of the Uruguayan box stays very harmless and is no danger for Muslera – there was barely any power behind this shot!
	40	In the folliowing attack the South Americans claimed a possible hand ball by Chiellini who had quite a lot of trouble controlling a harmless long ball inside the Italian area but the video review didn't even show clearly if the ball hit his arm or not.
	40	On the other side of the pitch El Shaarawy suddenly appeared in a 1-on-1 situation with Muslera but the Uruguayan goalkeepre stayed the winner in this duel! What a game it is now!
	39	Diego Forlán with a shot from a central position, about 22 metres distance towards the net, but Buffon is down in the right corner in time!
	38	Cavani with a through ball for Forlán from the left side of the Italian box but the pass is intercepted by a defender.
	37	Great opportunity for Uruguay's Maxi Pereira after receiving a pass just at the border of the Italian box but his hard shot towards the right bottom corner is somehow kept out by Buffon with a spectacular save!

	35	Luis Suárez wins a throw in at the right outside lane but his team colleague Maxi Pereira doesn't execute the following throw correctly and instead Italy gets a throw in... you rarely see this in professional football.
	33	AC Milan's youngster El Shaarawy with a hard shot from about 20 metres distance towards the left corner! Great save to the side by Muslera at cost of a corner that he can catch himself afterwards.
	32	Free kick cross by Forlán from a half right position but Cavani whose header went into the net past Buffon was one of several players who stood offside and the goal doesn't count!

	31	Martin Cáceres is being looked after by the Uruguayan medical staff already for several minutes after a head injury. Let's hope he can continue.

	29	Uruguay don't look shocked at all and in fact they seem to take over the initiative.
	27	Big opportunity for Luis Suárez who received the ball close to the Italian box and tried it with a fast shot towards the right top corner but Buffon was there just in time to block the shot for a corner!
	24	Goal for Italy! What a strange lead for Italy! The free kick executed by Diamanti came very hard and dangerous and hit the upper part of the left post from where it deflected and hit the back of Uruguayan goalkeeper Muslera and went into the wide open net! What an unlucky situation for him! But just before ASTORI gave it a last touch and he is the official goalscorer.

	22	Fast attack by the Italians over Candreva who gives the ball to the left wing to De Sciglio but the following flat cross is blocked by Maxi Pereira for a corner that stays harmless.
	21	Again Suárez in the center of attention when his opponent hit his head in an aerial duel – hurts but he can continue without real problems.
	20	De Rossi wins the ball from Luis Suárez at the Italian box and goes all the way towards the Uruguayan box, gives a brilliant pass there to Candreva and his team mate's shot goes just over the crossbar! Good and fast attack by Italy.
	19	On the other side of the pitch Diamanti looked for Gilardino with a long ball but it was too high and ended up behind the endline – goal kick now for Uruguay.
	18	Luis Suárez with the attempt to steal the ball from an Italian defender but by doing this he fouled him and the scene is over.

		Uuruguay and Italy face each other for the third place match of the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil. Uruguay played a tournament with mixed results. In the group stage they lost against favourites Spain (1-2) before beating direct rivals Nigeria (2-1) and outsiders Tahiti (8-0). In the semifinals they faced the tournament hosts Brazil and kept the game very open before losing in the final minutes (1-2). Today's opponents Italy beat Mexico (2-1) and Japan (4-3) before losing the final match of the group stage against tournament hosts Brazil (2-4). In the semifinals they were the better team during most parts of the game against Spain (0-0) but lost 6-7 in the penalty shootout. It will be interesting to see which team is more motivated this late in the football season in a game of relative unimportance for the players.
