Traktor Chelyabinsk lost in last season's KHL finals and start to current season sure wasn't what fans in Chelyabinsk area expected from this tam. Two wins in five games are big dissapointment. Their last home game against Metallurg Nk (5:1) finished with respectable win for Traktor which indicates that teams form is on a rise. Petri Kontiola (7 points for 1 goal + 6 assists) is currently team's top point gatherer and Valery Belousov, Traktor's head coach sure hopes that Finnish international keeps his form on same level. Some improvement is also expected from Michael Garnett in Traktor's goal (89.0 % Sv).
Evgeni Popikhin, head coach of Amur Khabarovsk is different position – Amur rarely qualify for playoffs and his team is always considered as potential underdogs. Their most effective guy after five games played is surprisingly Vladimir Loginov , the defenseman with 5 points for 1 goal + 4 assists. Alexander Yunkov follows with 4 (3+1) points and Slovenian international Jan Mursak is next with 3 (2+1). Mika Jarvinen defended Amur's net on two games with 93.2 %Sv., Alexei Murygin was in front of the net on three occasions with 88.7 %Sv. They lost their last game against Neftekhimik on the road with 2:6. Amur is on bottom of East Conference with only one OT win so far in the season.
Traktor is therefore considered as a favorit to win in this game, but one can never be sure in KHL hockey.
