Dinamo Riga were considered favorites for today's game. Both teams were very cautious in opening period and crowd saw great up and down hockey in first few minutes only. Two great reactions of Sakari Salminen gave Torpedo two goal lead inside first 6:21 of second period, but home team got their act together and equalized the result in following ten minutes. To be fair, Dinamo was better team for most of the second period, but teams were levelled on score board before final twenty minutes of the game. Latvians were again more active side in final period, but also very unlucky to loose concentration in final minute and let Salminen score yet another – this time winning – goal. Anyway – Torpedo also deserved this win for taking everything what's been offered to them

Team from Nizhny Novgorod however doesn't come to Latvian capital with white flag. They surprised CSKA in Moscow two day ago (2:1) and they stopped »Army-team« in their anticipated winning streak, after they won two games earlier in the week, including derby against Gagarin Cup Champions Dinamo Moscow. Torpedo is currently on eighth place in Eastern Conference standings with three wins in seven games. Georgy Gelashvili (4 games, Sv% 94.9) and Vitaly Koval (3 games, Sv% 90.7) are in good form and whole team is quite good as far as defensive part of game is considered (avg 2.0 goals per game against). Scoring part of the game is not between the wordt in the league, but there's sure room for improvement (they score avg. 2.57 goals per game). Wojtek Wolski (6 points for 3 goals + 3 assists), Tim Brent (5 points, 1 goal + 4 assists) and Vadim Krasnoslobodtsev (4 points for 1 goal + 3 assists) are current Torpedo's top point gatherers.
