    Final word:
    Results so far in KHL season and recent performances of both teams put Torpedo in role of favorites for this game. However, team from Cherepovets announced that they came to Nizhny Novgorod to win right from the start. Surprised home team never really took control over the play. There were some bright moments and they applied some pressure, but Severstal reacted in clever way and denied every serious try. Boring opening period was interrupted by some real happening when Linus Videll scored for Severstal only. Nobody in crowd probably expected so pale second period by home team and no goals were seen during second 20 minutes. Serious pressure by Torpedo was expected at least in final 20 minutes. There were many opportunities to score, several powerplay situationas and even 5 on 3 situations on ice in Torpedo's favor, but guests denied every home team's attempt. Empty net goal by Swedish international Videll was only a cherry on very sweet cake for guests.

It is fair to say that Topedo Nizhny Novgorod is in great form at the moment. They are fifth in Eastern Conference standings with 5 straight and 1 SO win in nine games. That's tenth overall. Georgy Gelashvili is currently second in the league goalie rankings with his Sv% (95.4) and is one of cornerstones of recent good results. On the attacking side – Sakari Salminen leads team's point list with 9 points (4 goals + 5 assists). Tim Brent 8 (1+7) and Wojtek Wolski 7 (3+4) are following. There are several other players in good form as well and Severstal defense will probably have to face serious amount of pressure today.
    Severstal lost their Friday game at AK Bars Kazan (0:1) and they were quite unlucky in that game. Previous to that home OT defeat vs Spartak happened and humiliating home defeat (0:4) vs Donbass too. Their last win dates on September 18th against Croatian Medvescak. Severstal is at the moment on 12th place in Western Conference standings with two straight wins and single SO win in 9 games. That's 23 place overall at the moment. Jakub Stepanek, goaltender, is in good form anyway; he stopped 93.3% of shots to his goal so far in season. Teams defense is what's worryinh fans of Cherepovets side. On the attacking side Nikolai Bushuyev is at the moment leading team's stats with 6 points (4 goals + 2 assists). He is followed by several players with 4 and 3 points next to their names.
    It's easy to name favorites for today's win and that'll be Torpedo, but one can never be sure in KHL!
