In the end Bremen scored two goals and was able to cut the lead to one, but it was not enough to gain at least one point. Mainz collected all of the three points of this match, so they already have 19 points and jumped up to seventh spot, while Werder Bremen remained on 15 points and they are located only on 12th spot.

		Mainz started this match absolutely perfectly! After twenty minutes they had already two-goal-lead also thanks for two terrible mistakes by Mielitz. Then, Werder found the momentum of the game was attacking, pressing moreover, they hit the post. In spite of this Mainz still holds the lead.
