    CSKA enter the matchup being 4th seeded in the Western standings, right after SKA, Dynamo Moscow and Dinamo Riga. With the record 16-6-13 and 59 points, they're only 3 points away from the 3rd spot, but also 16 points away from their opponents.

    CSKA find themselves in a bit of a struggle in the last two games, that they lost to Lokomotiv and Atlant, but now they will play five in a row at home that should help them a bit in the standings, especially with Dinamo showin a slight fall in the play.

    SKA come into the game on the road with an impressive six-game winning streak, both on home ice and on the road. Their last two wins came in the shootout against Lev and Slovan on the road, and they look unstoppable in terms of regulation losses.

    SKA is currently positioned 1st overall and if they can continue their tempo they're bound to enter the playoffs being the 1st seed. Their impressive record 21-7-6 and 75 points stands up to their reputation of being one of the best Russian teams. And beyond the borders...
