1st and 2nd places in Group A are still to be determined by the last game tonight, between Canada and USA. Don't miss that one.
Real end-to-end action lately as the Slovaks try to open it up, but they just can't get it going.
After another horrible start to the second period, the Slovaks played well the last half of that period and finally got a goal at the end, but they still have an uphill climb ahead of them. The Czechs have done a masterful job of handling the high-scoring Slovak top line . . . until the dying seconds, that is.
3rd period begins at 15:19 CET, 09:19 EST.
The top Slovak line hasn't been able to do much today, but MILAN KOLENA gets free at the side of the net, take a pass and fires it before Langhamer can get across. Assists: David Griger, Martin Reway.
This second Slovak line has been their most dangerous, as the Czechs have kept the top line completely under wraps.
This is becoming a rout now. PETR SIDLIK unloads from the point, and with all sorts of traffic in front Richard Sabol never saw it and it sailed past his blocker and in. Power-play goal. Assists: Martin Prochazka, David Pastrnak.
Bad Slovak clearing attempt up the middle gets picked off by Simon, he feeds MARTIN PROCHAZKA who fires an absolute rocket that beats Baros high glove side. Assist: Dominik Simon
The two keys to that first period were the fast start by the Czechs and then their penalty killing late. The Slovaks had a 5-on-3 and could have got back into this game with a goal, but weren't able to.
2nd period starts at 14:25 CET, 08:25 EST.
ONDREJ KASE blocks a Slovakian shoot-in attempt, the puck goes to Kostalek who feeds Kase with a breakaway pass. He beats Baros on the backhand. Assist: Jan Kostalek.
What a start for the Czechs. DAVID PASTRNAK won the battle for the puck in the corner, passed up the boards to Prochazka, then went to the net to take the return pass and beat Baros on a forehand deke. Assist: Martin Prochazka.
Slovakia is the designated home team for this game and is wearing blue uniforms with white and red trim, blue pants and helmets. The Czech Republic is the designated visiting team and is wearing white uniforms with blue and red trim, red pants and blue helmets.

The Slovaks enter the game with 3 points and the Czechs with 2. The winner of this game finishes 3rd place in Group A. If the Slovaks lose, they finish 4th, so they go to the quarterfinals either way. If the Czechs lose, they finish 5th and go to the relegation round.
The starting goalies are Samuel Baroš for Slovakia, who stopped 44 of 48 yesterday vs Canada. For the Czech Republic is Marek Langhamer, who stopped 19 of 22 vs Germany yesterday.
Defenceman Michal Plutnar returns to the Czech lineup after a one-game suspension. The Slovaks are going with the same lineup as yesterday.
