Thank you for following the 2014 IIHF WJC bronze medal game with us! Have a nice evening – or afternoon if you follow us from North America – and stay tuned for the gold medal game later today between archrivals Sweden and Finland. (17:20:03)

The best players of each team are awarded – Andrei Vasilevsky for Russia and Aaron Ekblad for Canada.

Canada showed a lot of heart and passion in the last 20 minutes but were not able to cut the deficit by more than the half and lost 1-2 in the bronze medal game to Russia.

For Canada – used so much to junior hockey success – this means back-to-back WJC tournaments without winning a medal.

    Shots on goal: Russia 10 (32) – Canada 11 (31)

    60:00
    Game over.

    59:31
Bushnevich misses the wide open net from within the neutral zone!

    59:23
The Russians can clear the puck out of their own zone but fail to get a shot on goal with the net empty...

    58:56
Fucale is on his way to the bench for an additional skater!

    58:49
A time out is taken – by the Russians!

    58:49
Alexander Barabanov wins the puck from a defender inside the Canadian third but can't use the space and his no look shot is stopped by Fucale!

    58:35
85 seconds are left in regulation. Fucale is still standing in the Canadian net and both teams have their time outs left.

    57:34
In the immidiate counter attack the Russians came extremly close to leave this game decided! In a 1-on-1 after winning the race for the puck, a Russian forward was stopped by Fucale though with a big pad save!

    57:12
Pouliot tried to break through a defensive line of five Russians on his own but was stopped by the last defender in the end!

    55:58
Long clearance by the Russians, Canada have to start again in their own period.

    55:00
Distance shot by Nikita Zadorov, easy pad save by Fucale. At least the Russians are investing more again.

    52:45
The Russians leave the game completely in the hands of Canada and just concentrate on counter opportunities in this third period, even more after the 1-2. Let's see what this tactic gets them.

    52:16
Bo Horvat with a dangerous pass from behind the Russian net but his team mates all missed the puck from short distance!

    51:25
Just one second are left of the current Canadian power play after Griffin Reinhart's shot from within the slot was caught by Vasilevsky.

    51:07
Good fast passing by the Canadian power play formation but they fail to get a shot on goal.

    49:53
After a blue line shot Vasilevsky made a big jump to the right to block a rebound and to keep his team the small one-goal lead!

    49:26
Can you believe it??? Russia receives the third two minute penalty this afternoon for having too many players on the ice!!! And for the third time Bushnevich serves the penalty without having done any harm in any of these situations.
