DAVID ULLSTROM is credited with the game-winning goal in the shootout.
Shots were 3-0 Lev in OT, 49-24 through 65 minutes of hockey, and I had quality scoring chances at 16-4 Lev.
The puck came to JIRI SEKAC at the top of the slot, he dodged a block attempt and then shot through traffic and it found its way through the crowd. Novotny was in front, not sure if he touched it, but he provided a screen for sure. Power-play goal. Assists: Martin Thornberg, Ondrej Nemec.
Petri Vehanen went to the bench on the delayed penalty and he's staying at the bench. This is the game right here.
After so many chances, they finally bury one. Martin Thornberg found PETR VRANA alone at the far side and he one-timed it in before Sorokin could come across. Power-play goal. Assist: Martin Thornberg.
It's a good goal, and IGOR VELICHKIN was apparently the one who got to that rebound and put it in past Vehanen to make it 2-0. Assists: Nikita Kamalov, Artyom Gareyev.
Shots on goal in the 2nd period (and game): Lev 15 (31), Novokuznetsk 4 (14).
Quality scoring chances: Lev 3 (7), Novokuznetsk 1 (3).
3rd period begins at 20:36 CET, 14:36 EST.
Shots 11-2 Lev this period but they still haven't scored.
Shots on goal in the 1st period: Lev 16, Novokuznetsk 10.
Quality scoring chances: Lev 4, Novokuznetsk 2.
2nd period begins at 19:46 CET, 13:46 EST.
Martin Sevc fell as he played the puck behind his own net and it went right onto the stick of NIKITA VYGLAZOV, who was along the goal line, and he banked the puck in off the pad of Vehanen and in for the game's first goal on what was also, I believe, the first shot. Unassisted.
Lev Praha is wearing their home red uniforms with blue and white trim, while Metellurg Novokuznetsk is wearing road white with red, black and silver trim.
Petri Vehanen will get the start this time for Lev, however, despite the fact he missed this past weekend's KHL All-Star Game with an undisclosed health problem.
Kapanen was injured later on the same road trip and hasn´t played a game with the Lions since, but he´s played two games in the Czech 1st League recently and is a possibility to make his return to the lineup on Monday.
They gave up five goals on 40 shots that game and defence has been a problem all season long for Novokuznetsk -- they are ranked 27th out of 28 KHL teams, while their offence is ranked 26th. Because of that, they have the worst record in the KHL with 35 points.
Niko Hovinen started in goal for Novotkuznetsk in the first meeting but has since been moved to Vladivostok. Since then, the duties have fallen on Ilya Sorokin and Nikita Lozhkin, and they´ve had their work cut out for them.
Offensively, the team is lead by Yevgeni Lapenkov, who has only 16 points. Rafael Akhmetov and defenceman Yegor Martynov both have 15 points, while Damir Zhafyarov leads the goal parade with 8. Names familiar to international fans may include Canadian forward Kurtis McLean with 13 points, Finnish defenceman Tuukka Mantyla with 10 or Canadian defenceman Raymond Giroux with 8.
Of course, regardless of where Novokuznetsk is in the standings, the Lions would be advised not to take them lightly, as just last week they defeated league power SKA St Petersburg 3-2, so they can steal points if their opponent doesn´t come to play.
Out of the lineup for Lev is one of their top offensive weapons, Jakub Klepiš, who will miss up to six weeks of action with a wrist injury.
