		The US will play the winner of the qualification match between Russia/Switzerland vs. Latvia. Russia vs. Slovakia are now in overtime meaning Slovakia will get the 9th or 10th seed.
		With the US win, they likely pick up the third seed and will automatically have a direct route to the quarterfinals. Slovenia will pick up the eighth seed and play Austria in the qualifier match.

	59:42	Goal for Team Slovenia! Scorer is M. RODMAN. Marcel Rodman skates in off the bench and has a puck sitting just above the left faceoff dot. He lets a hard shot go and Miller misses it and his shootout opportunity.
	58:30	The pro-Slovenian crowd is starting to cheer for their team who just did not have anything offensively to show. They skated well against the US side for most of the match, but the Americans made the best of their opportunities.
	57:00	The US holds the zone for over a minute and are making some crisp passes now that the pressure is off with the big lead and time running out. Orpik even pinching in from the blue line.
	55:20	Oshie gives a long cross ice pass to Wheeler and he really lets go on a one-timer. The pass was a bit slow and long; Gracnar made the sprawling save.
	54:30	The game has turned into a foot race now. Slovenia's urgency to score has led to some good back and forth action.
	53:00	Slovenia's Razingar with a great shift and a quality wraparound opportunity. The US really relying on Miller later here, but the big lead certainly helps their case.
		The US is back at full strength.
	51:30	The US doing well to stop any shots on goal during the power play, but are failing to clear the zone. Slovenia gets some chances there, but Miller is just too strong.
	50:18	van Riemsdyk called for a highsticking penalty. Slovenia up for their third power play of the game. Action resumes after the commercial break.
	48:15	David Rodman skates in alone, but holds his own and gets a good series for Slovenia. A little too late for Slovenia to find their second wind unfortunately.
	46:35	Kane skates in hard on Gracnar and the puck is loose around him. Several players taking stabs at the puck, but Slovenia clears before the US can get their 6th.
		Slovenia is back at full strength.
	46:00	The US power play finally looking better on the power play, but not getting any shots.
	44:11	Pavlin gets called for a holding penalty as the US side continues to press hard on the goal. The US will get their second power play of the game.
	43:26	Goal for Team USA! Scorer is BACKES. Backes skates hard to the net and catches a puck off of his foot on a pass from Callahan. After review, it appears Backes was able to get his stick on the puck after it hit his foot.
	43:00	The US setting up in their own end after a Slovenian change. Slovenia with the only shot on goal in the early going of the third.
	41:30	Both teams trying to get some momentum early on. Not much going on net.
	40:01	Start of 3rd period.
		The final 20 minutes are almost underway.
		Slovenia gets two power plays that period and one for the US--both were unfruitful. Shots were 11-4 for the US.
		A tale of two periods: Slovenia owns the first half, even getting a couple chances on the US power play. However, they end up with only four shots. The US begins to play physical in the second half and the pick up another two quick goals. Kessel gets the natural hat trick and Pavelski gets his third assist.

	38:30	The US gets a 3-on-2 try with Oshie flipping one on goal. On the faceoff after the cover, the US holds the zone for almost a full minute before Slovenia can clear.
	36:30	The US starting to impose physically on the Slovenes. Lots of work on the boards leading to some opportunities for the US.
		The US is back to full strength after a quality kill.
	32:57	Oshie is called for slashing and Slovenia has a now-or-never chance to get back into this game.
	32:17	Goal for Team USA! Wheeler cycles along the blue line and all the way down to the goal line to the right of Gracnar. McDonagh catches a pass in the opposite circle that passes Backes in front. McDonagh lets one go and it goes high over Gracnar.
	30:05	Goal for Team USA! A natural hat trick for Kessel! van Rymsdyk on the screen from a Pavelski slapper. The rebound bounces wide to Kessel and the open net makes it an easy one. Pavelski gets his third assist on the game.
	30:05	Oshie going hard at the net twice, but Gracnar is holding strong now. The US is finally getting some momentum offensively.
	28:45	Urbas gets a loose puck in the zone and really lets one go from the left circle. A great chance, but he misses the net. Urbas gets a second try, but Miller saves it.
	27:32	Slovenia is back at full strength.
	26:42	Slovenia getting two shorthanded chances on the Sabolic roughing call. The US having a difficult time setting up.
	25:32	Sabolic hits Oshie trying to knock in a loose puck after the play. Roughing against Slovenia and the US gets their first man advantage.
	25:32	Paul Stasny almost gets one by Gracnar. Unsure again he scrambles and comes up with it. Almost a third for the US.
	24:30	Slovenia looking great here and getting some quality chances on Miller, but he is playing very well. No luck for Slovenia on the scoreboard.
		Kopitar is back on the ice for Slovenia.
		Just reported that Kopitar for Slovenia is not on the bench this period.
	23:00	The US kills the penalty, but they have a difficult time clearing the puck out of their zone. A good power play for Slovenia, but no goals.
	21:56	Almost there for the Slovenians. Miller thought one might have went by, but he makes the save.
	20:57	Backes slips waiting for the pass and goes into the keeper. Interference is the call and Slovenia gets the first power play of the game,
		Slovenia wins the opening faceoff of the second period--we are back underway.
	20:01	Start of 2nd period.
		Slovenia winning the faceoff battle that period against the US 12-9.
		The difference has been Slovenia handling the rush in their own end. Kessel catches Gracnar with his legs open once and slaps a puck out of the air on the other.
		McDonagh gets a final slapshot in to end the period--an unfortunate one for Slovenia who is really skating with the US.
	20:00	1st period finished.
	18:30	Shots are now even at seven a piece for US and Slovenia. The US is trying to get some offense going, but the Slovenian blue line has frustrated them into two consecutive offsides calls.
	17:00	Miller looking very steady in goal for the US. Slovenia getting some long slappers in, but not very effective. US hustling a lot harder than Slovenia, rushing the zone, keeping guys away from the net and dropping to block shots.
	15:30	The US coming in wide and being successful on getting some shots on goal. Slovenia on the other end is starting to shoot the puck, but no one is helping out offensively in front of the net.
	14:00	Shots are 5-2 in favor of the US in a defensive chess match. The score should not fool you that the US is outclassing Slovenia early on.
	13:00	Oshie, hero in the previous match against Russia, gives Gracnar a little whitewash. Gracnar looking really unsure that he has the puck, taking an extra glance before recovering the puck with his glove.
		Update: 8 minutes in and Russia is tied with Slovakia 0-0.
	11:30	Slovenia looks a little nervous to pull the trigger. On the other hand, credit to the US for putting defenders in front of Miller and brushing away and attempts to get a puck on net.
	10:00	Play looking a little more even now with the US starting to breakthrough the Slovenian forecheck. Only two shots to show for it, but it appears the first half of the first period possession war goes to Slovenia.
		Break in the action.
	07:30	The US had a couple good rushes for their goals, but they are having a hard tie getting anything setup in the Slovenian zone. The blue team has a good forecheck working so far.
	06:00	Despite the quick two goals for the US, Slovenia looks pretty good. They are forechecking well and getting a lot of possession in the US end.
	04:33	Goal for Team USA! What a goal! Pavelski skates to Gracnar's left and send a pass through the air to Kessel, who baseball swings one home on the opposite side. The US is rolling early.
	03:49	Gracnar has another one come to him five hole and he squeezes it in. He was not so confident though. Looking a little shaky between the pipes so far for Slovenia.
	01:04	Goal for Team USA! Scorer is KESSEL. Kessel skates hard down ice through a 2-on-3 and gets a pass just past the blue line. He puts a nice move on Robar and then flicks in easy puck into the goal. It was savable, but Gracnar could not get his stick in front of the five hole on time.

		This game and two others left on the day and everything will be sorted out for the knockout round. Stay tuned...the puck drops in about five minutes.
		If Finland and Canada end with a regulation victory and the US beats Slovenia, they are setup for the number three seed. A Slovenia loss puts them somewhere between the seventh and the ninth seed for the quarterfinal qualifier--a win somewhere between fifth and sixth, though a blowout of the US could send them right into the quarterfinals.
		The US is playing an upstart Slovenian side that defeated Slovakia for their first ever Men's Olympic hockey victory. While they are a heavy underdog, they US cannot underestimate them.
		Today's matchup is between the United States and Slovenia. Miller will get the start in goal after Jonathan Quick helped the US beat Russia in a shootout. Jimmy Howard will be backing him up.
