With a 2-0 lead for Metallurg in the best-of-seven series, they favourites could decide this series already in the next two games in Novosibirsk!
Shots on goal: Metallurg 2 (20) – Sibir 15 (30)
A bit surprising the guests are able to cut the deficit to the half! DMITRY MONYA received a pass by Konstantin Alexeyev inside the middle period, skated towards the right circle and beat Koshechkin with a hard shot into the left corner! 3-2 only! Can Sibir come back again in the third period just as yesterday?!
Assisted by Konstantin Alexeyev.
Shots on goal: Metallurg 7 (18) – Sibir 10 (15)
The hosts needed a bit to find to their power play formation but now they have done the damage – 3-1 in power play! The top offensive line does all the work for Metallurg again! Danis Zaripov with a pass from the right circle finds line mate SERGEI MOZYAKIN close to the left circle and with a powerful one-timer into the left corner he beats Koskinen in the Sibir net!
Assisted by Danis Zaripov.
What a spectacular start into the middle period! In power play Metallurg restore their lead! FRANCIS PARE received the puck on the left wing and from close to the left circle he found the hole in the guest defense to place the puck in the right corner! 2-1 Metallurg!
Assisted by Chris Lee.
Due to the penalty against Oskar Osala late in the first period, Sibir were allowed to start with a man more on the ice into the middle period and in power play they tie the game! After Koshechkin allowed a rebound after a blue line shot by Vyacheslav Belov it was Sibir team mate DMITRY MONYA who scored with the second attempt from short distance to make it 1-1!
Assisted by Vyacheslav Belov!
Only after the end of their five minute power play Sibir improved a bit and a defender hit the crossbar with a shot from the blue line!
Shots on goal: Metallurg 11 – Sibir 5
And this icing call against Sibir has serious consequences! DMITRY KAZIONOV won the face off at the left circle but lost the puck to Sibir defender Andrei Plekhanov left to the net. Plekhanov and a team mate then crashed into each other, lost the puck and Kazionov found himself alone in front of the net and beat Koskinen in the 1-on-1 to score the 1-0 for Metallurg shorthnaded! What a strange situation!
Without assist!

Game #1 on Friday didn't disappoint. Metallurg won 3-2 in overtime after Sibir were able to tie the game after a two-goal deficit with a double late in the third period before Sergei Mozyakin scored the match winner for Metallurg in the 67th minute! In the end Metallurg's top scoring line made the difference again with all of the three frowards (Sergei Mozyakin – Jan Kovar – Danis Zaripov) scoring one goal!
Game #2 should be a close one aswell. If Metallurg can add the important second win or if Sibir come back to tie the best of seven series, we'll see very soon!
