With a 2-0 lead for Metallurg in the best-of-seven series, they favourites could decide this series already in the next two games in Novosibirsk!

Metallurg Magnitogorsk – 1st in the Eastern Conference during regular season – knew it would be a tough Conference semifinal series against Sibir Novosibirsk after the outsiders from Siberia threw out two-time Gagarin Cup winners Ak Bars Kazan in the first playoff round.

Game #1 on Friday didn't disappoint. Metallurg won 3-2 in overtime after Sibir were able to tie the game after a two-goal deficit with a double late in the third period before Sergei Mozyakin scored the match winner for Metallurg in the 67th minute! In the end Metallurg's top scoring line made the difference again with all of the three frowards (Sergei Mozyakin – Jan Kovar – Danis Zaripov) scoring one goal!

Game #2 should be a close one aswell. If Metallurg can add the important second win or if Sibir come back to tie the best of seven series, we'll see very soon!
