After a while Getafe again with a nice attack but after a long cross by Lafita from the right wing it is Pedro León whose direct volley shot from left to the six-yard box goes wide past the left post!

The following free kick cross from left to the Elche box comes towards the six-yard box but is cleared before Rafa tries it with a direct scoring attempt from the second row that is more than harmless.

Pedro León is stopped by two opponents in the midfield for the next break in the game. There is barely any rhythm left after such a promising start in the first half.

There is not much happening currently. The game is led intensly by both sides with many fouls and breaks.

The game gets a bit more physical now with several tackles on each wing.

Borja with the leg high against an Elche player close to the Getafe box but the referee lets the play continue with a throw in instead of giving the free kick.

Getafe forward Marica and Elche defender Damián Suárez with revenge fouls against each other within a few seconds but the referee is able to clear the case without cards.

Pedro Léon again in the center of attraction. After the ball was extended to him with a header after a throw in, he ran into the Elche defensive area from the right side and tried it with a fast shot towards the right bottom corner but Manu Herra was down easily with a save!

The match between Elche CF and Getafe CF is a highly important one for both teams to avoid relegation.

Before the current matchday Elche were 15th in La Liga with 32 points while Getafe collected 31 points, both in 31 games. The advantage towards the relegation zone is two points for Elche and just one point for Getafe.

Elche haven't won a game in their last 5 opportunities against Espanyol Barcelona (A, 1-3), Real betis (H, 0-0), Granada CF (A, 0-1), Athletic Bilbao (H, 0-0) and Villarreal CF (A, 1-1).

For Getafe it was even a lot worse. They hadn't won since 29 November 2013 with a 0-5-10 record or better said only 5 out of possible 45 points before finally getting a success again in the last away match against Valencia CF (3-1) to make the jump out of the relegation zone.

When both teams met for the first time this season, the home match of Getafe ended with a 1-1. Another close match between two teams in a full crisis can be expected also today.
