Metallurg M – Lev 2:1 (after OT)
final/OT
Metallurg Magnitogorsk
2:1 (0:0, 1:0, 0:1 - 1:0)
Lev Praha
Saturday 26.04.2014, 13:00 • Arena Metallurg, Magnitogorsk. • KHL

What more can you say about Sergei Mozyakin? He scored both goals today, and now has 4 goals and 7 assists on the 13 goals that his team has scored in the series.

Metallurg now has a 3-2 series lead, and we move back to Prague for a 6th game on Monday. Metallurg will be on the brink of winning the Cup and Lev will have their backs to the wall, but they will also have another large, noisy crowd behind them. It should be exciting, so you don't want to miss it. (15:43:25)

    Game over.

    68:43
    Goal for Metallurg!
It was almost a carbon copy of the first goal. Jan Kovar got the puck on the right wing boards and sent a pass across to SERGEI MOZYAKIN at the left point. He one-timed it from there, beating Vehanen short side. 11 points for Mozyakin in the last 4 games, and none bigger than this one.
    Assist: Jan Kovar.

    68:14
Azevedo a wrister from a sharp angle, knocked down by Koshechkin and covered.

    67:42
Lev back the other way, Vrana's shot is caught and held by Koshechkin. Azevedo badly interfered with there, but we all know that it will have to be nearly murder to be a penalty now.

    67:10
Tereschenko's blast from the point, deflected just wide of the post.

    65:55
Faceoff win for Novotny and a one-timer from Maenpaa, Koshechkin had to be quick to react.

    65:53
Long wrister from Jakub Matai, right on Koshechkin, who holds on.

    65:17
    Offside Metallurg.

    64:42
Long wrister by Nemec, right on Koshechkin, who traps it against his body. That's Lev's first shot of the overtime.

    64:11
Puck out of play in the Lev zone, faceoff inside.

    63:40
Sevc with an open-ice tackle on Kovar far from the puck. There have been no penalties to this game and I guess he's banking on them not calling anything at this point.

    62:45
Another scramble at the side of the net, Maenpaa tries to cover it but it's dug loose. Then Tereschenko's shot is deflected wide.

    62:24
What a chance by Metallurg. Yunkov's shot wasboked, but Pare and Osala rushed in there for the loose puck and Vehanen was scrambling, finally managing to reach his arm out and cover the puck.

    61:50
Battle for the puck along the end boards in the Lev zone . . .

    60:44
Metallurg rush, low slapper from Mozyakin and a pad save by Vehanen.

    60:15
Le with the first offensive rush, Novotny gets the puck but his stick's tied up and can't get a shot.

    60:01
    Overtime began.

The players are returning to the ice and the first overtime period will start soon.

The KHL's overtime format is the same as the NHL's. 20-minute periods, 5-on-5, until a goal is scored.

Once again, the series is tied 2-2. The winner will be one win away from the Gagarin Cup.

What a 3rd period! Lev tied it early, and then there was a frantic effort, mostly on the part of Metallurg, to break the tie but to no avail. Their most dangerous chance was a 2-on-1 in the last 2 minutes but Martin Sevc made a great sliding block to break up the pass. He's had himself a whale of a game, assisting on the goal and being a physical and defensive force throughout.

We have overtime for the first time in this series. Whoever scores the next goal will be one win away from the Gagarin Cup!

Shots on goal in the 3rd period (and game): Metallurg 8 (21), Lev 11 (31).

    Quality scoring chances: Metallurg 5 (7), Lev 3 (7).

Sudden-death overtime begins at 19:22 YEKT, 15:22 CEST, 09:22 EDT.
