We are glad we didn't see a debacle as well as in the previous match. The U.S. had big problems during the game, but still they deserved to win without doubt and go to the semifinals!

Best players of the game are goalies Jerry Kuhn and Thomas Ower. (17:26:40)

    48:00
    Game over.

    46:50
    Goal for Team USA!
Now we know who's gonna be the second semifinalist. MATT WHITE was thinking of a pass, but he shot by himself and found a space nearby the post. Assists: Rafael Rodriguez, Junior Cadiz.

    45:55
Matt White also couldn't quit the match.

    45:28
John Siemer on a breakaway hit the net only from the side.

    45:05
The Americans now hold the puck in their own zone.

    43:48
Patrick Lee had two players with him, but in fact, he didn't do anything with the puck.

    42:10
Time is running up, but one moment can change it all. The Northamericans need to score another goal to avoid drama.

    41:13
The U.S. are playing at full strength.

    40:50
The puck was totterring in front of Jerry Kuhn and Marco Pfleger didn't manage to reboud it.

    39:47
Travis Noe then had an illegal contact with Thomas Ower. Minor penalty for interference and a big chance for Germany!

    39:47
Now the German post is in action after a shot by Patrick Lee.

    39:20
But on the other side, puck missed the post by milimeters!

    38:21
The U.S. are now controlling the puck. This might be a real warning.

    36:57
    Goal for Team Germany!
Penalty is killed and the margin has been cut to two! After a big American mistake MARCO PFLEGER took a shot and it went off the post and in! Unassisted.

    36:24
Redirected shot by the Germans ended on the post!

    36:01
    Start od 4th period.

What a relief for the Americans. They scored two goals here in the third period and now they're heading towards victory.

    36:00
    End of 3rd period.

    35:44
Cody Kettler (USA) helped himself with hooking.

    35:31
Junior Cadiz, who has been pretty active today, couldn't capitalise from his teammate's pass. His stick was blocked.

    34:23
Third U.S. line didn't make a success in the goal crease, nor did the Germans in a unique counterattack.

    33:01
    Goal for Team USA!
The Americans waited for the right moment and now they are leading by three. TRAVIS NOE targeted the corner in a really great way! Assist: Patrick Lee.

    32:07
Fifth power-play for the U.S. Adriano Carciola (GER) gets called for tripping.

    31:03
Hidden shot by Junior Cadiz went to the post! Ower would have no chance against that.

    30:00
Thomas Ower is all over the goal line and doesn't allow other goal.

    28:48
The pace of the game has slowed down. Germany is surprised of course, they didn't deserve that.

    26:21
    Goal for Team USA!
What a pity for the Germans... KYLE NOVAK tok a shot from the left circle and Ower made a save. Defender Patrick Seifert tried to send the puck away, instead of that he scored an unbelieveable own goal! Assist: Travis Noe.

    26:01
Thomas Ower stays perfect, he made another pair of great saves!

    25:19
Timo Bormann (GER) gets minor penalty for tripping. We can expect big pressure now.

    24:41
The Americans have very good start and they will go on power-play.

    24:01
    Start of 3rd period.

Wow, the game is more and more nervous and in the German power-play, it could have been tied! Team USA isn't playing the way they would like and we hope it will be a dramatic story till the end!

    24:00
    2nd period finished.

    23:50
The U.S. play at full strength and Rodriguez had a big opportunity, but it isn't a goal!

    23:20
Marcel Brandt didn't find a space nearby the post!

    22:41
Redirected shot goes just centimeters wide! Big pressure against the U.S.

    21:57
First power-play of the game for Germany! John Siemer (USA) – minor penalty for tripping.

    21:31
Brandt is back on the floor. Thomas Ower had to deal with some shots, but most of them went wide.

    19:53
Third power-play for Team USA in this game. Marcel Brandt (GER) gets called for cross-checking.

    18:37
Some of the Germans was there in high time to stop Siemer's shot into the empty net!

    17:06
Long American power-play is over. They might regret this huge opportunity, still the score remains 1-0.

    16:36
I guess Ower saw the shot by Tyler Spezia, this is why he had the catching glove on its right place.

    15:59
The American power-play is getting better and better, now Noe's shot was stopped by the post!

    15:08
That might have been a huge surprise, Seifert was very fast and Jerry Kuhn had to kick his right pad!

    14:12
That means four minutes of powe-play for the U.S. But it isn't very good now.

    13:06
Huba Sekesi (GER) gets major penalty and game misconduct penalty for spearing.

    13:06
Tyler Spezia recieved a hit near to German bench, but probably it was a foul. The doctor now helps him to the bench, hope he'll be OK.

    12:01
    Start of 2nd period.

I really don't like the American play, even they have a huge territorial dominance. Both teams will try to improve, I'm sure.

    12:00
    1st period finished.

    11:53
    Germany plays at full strength.

    11:38
All the shots go wide or deflected by the German defense.

    10:58
The combination isn't very good, looks like the Americans still wait for something.

    10:10
We have the first power-play of the game here. Timo Borrmann (GER) gets minor for slashing.

    08:31
Most of the time the Americans try to invent something. It hasn't been a good game by them so far, clearly it's uncomparable to the previous one.

    07:11
The Europeans now combinated in the attack zone, but Kuhn didn't have to make a save.

    05:40
Big moments on both sides. Germany didn't succeed from a 2-on-1 breakaway, the U.S. goal then couldn't count because of attacking player in the goal crease!

    04:28
    Goal for Team USA!
Well, it didn't take long and the favourite takes the lead. MATT WHITE crossed the red line and his slap shot from the left side went between Ower's pads. Assist: Tyler Spezia.

    03:19
John Siemer was alone in front of Ower, but the Germans somehow managed to stop the puck.

    02:19
The German goal is out of its position. Joe Cook is now drawing on the board something for his second line.

    01:52
However, Thomas Ower now had to make a good blocker save on a shot by Patrick Lee.

    01:05
The game started in a really slow pace. It's really not like the previous one and Swedish hurricane.

    00:01
    Game started.

    Starting lineups:

USA: Kuhn III (Lane) – White, Spezia, Rodriguez, Burnett – Noe, Cadiz, Lee, Kettler – Novak, Siemer, Kavaya, Thompson. Coach: Joe Cook.

Germany: Ower (Eisenhut) – Seifert, Streicher, Pfleger, Huba Sekesi – Borrmann, Brandt, F. Carciola, A. Carciola – Jeske, Jirik, Brazda, Baier – Poetzel, Horka Sekesi. Coach: Georg Holzmann.

    Referees: Prchal (CZE), Vikman (FIN).

Even the Germans didn't win a single game in the group stage, they proved big power. They lost to Canada 3-1, Sweden 4-3 in overtime and Finland 5-2. Both European opponents had very big problems in the game and had to turn the match in the last period.

The Americans have been successful in all the games here so far. Great Britain and Slovakia weren't really tough opponents, but the U.S. also managed to beat the Czechs thanks to game winning goal two minutes before the end. Don't forget we are talking about the defending champion.

It is my pleasure to welcome you at another live commentary from Pardubice. The winning team of first quarterfinal will tomorrow face the winner of this one between the United States and Germany. The U.S. must cope with huge expectations to win this game in an easy way.

    Welcome. Game starts at 16:00.

    Martin Voltr
