Thursday 21.08.2014, 17:30 • Hakametsä • Champions League

Welcome. This game starts at 17:30 CET, 18:30 EET.

Tappara Tampere and the Stavanger Oilers open their CHL season on Thursday when they clash in Tampere's Hakametsä. The home team goes into the game as the favorite but Stavanger won't go down without a fight.

Tappara finished second in the Finnish Liiga last year, while Stavanger won the Norwegian GET-ligaen and the IIHF Continental Cup last season. Tappara has tried to strengthen its squad to compete with last year's champion Kärpät Oulu and their number one goal for the season is to win Liiga.

Tappara's biggest stars include goalkeeper Juha Metsola, defenceman Dave Kolomatis and forward Olli Palola. The team has both depth and quality.

Stavanger tries to defend its GET-ligaen championship with the leadership of captain Snorre Hallem. Other leading players include alternate captain defenceman Dennis Sveum and the team's four Canadians: defencemen Nick Plastino and Adrian Veideman and forwards Jean-Michel Daoust and Josh Soares.
Peter Andersson, Stavanger Oilers goalie coach, claims they are ready. Are you ready for Champions Hockey League as well?
