Tuesday 23.09.2014, 14:00Champions Hockey League gameday liveblog

That's your lot for tonight. We'll be back tomorrow with another seven games, but before then you'll be able to enjoy video highlights of all of tonight's matches – so check back early tomorrow. We've had drama, comebacks, and history made tonight, what will tomorrow bring? Goodnight! (23:01:15)

    All scores in

Djurgården 8-0 Zlín is the final score to come in for tonight – a comfortable win for the Swedes, which means they leapfrog Zlín by two points.

    As things stand

Just two games left to play out tonight:

    Nottingham Panthers 3-1 Hamburg Freezers
    Djurgården 8-0 Zlín

Game over in Luleå, where the hosts win 3-1 over Lukko. Färjestad survived going down a goal early to beat Vålerenga Oslo 4-1.

    As things stand

Just four games are left playing in today's CHL matches, with both Luleå and Färjestad Karlstadt comfortably taking 3-1 leads into the last parts of their games.

Djurgården are 7-0 up on Zlín after two periods, and you'd probably bet your house on them winning the game from there.

Over in the UK, can the Nottingham Panthers hold on to their 2-1 lead over Hamburg in period three? We're about to find out!

Vitkovice Steel have won their shoutout against Ingolstadt. Hager had to score, but Sindelar denied him and Vitkovice took shootout 3-2.

    End in sight

Luleå look to be heading top of Group K, as they now lead Lukko 3-1. In Group B, Färjestad Karlstadt lead by the same score over Vålerenga Oslo, as they close the gap on ZSC to two points.

    Overtime settles it

Jochen Hecht with the OT goal for Adler Mannheim, as they overcome Sparta Prague 3-2. This gives a huge incentive for either KalPa or Växjö to take top spot tomorrow night in Group G.

A powerplay goal for Chris Baltisberger gives ZSC Zurich an OT win over Vienna Capitals. The Caps stay top though, and means that Zurich must win in Vienna in two weeks time to have any chance at winning the group.

    Red Bulls seal it!

An empty netter for David Meckler secures a 2-0 win for Salzburg in Kloten, and puts the visitors back on top of Group I!

    Going to overtime...

60 minutes can't separate ZSC Lions and Vienna Capitals – they'll play an extra five, meaning that The Caps stay top of Group B!

    Late drama!

Vitkovice looked to have stolen a 4-3 win in Ingolstadt, but the hosts have levelled the game with six skaters and their net empty! Jared Ross got the goal at 59:59, and they'll now play overtime.

With just over six minutes remaining, Stavanger Oilers have taken a shock lead in Bern. The Swiss have not long left to cancel out Christian Dahl-Andersen's goal at 53:07.

    60 minutes up

Fribourg-Gotteron take a 2-0 win from Berlin, as they overcome the Eisbären at the O2 World. They face Djurgården at home on match day six, and as things stand that game will decide the group winners.

Adler Mannheim and Sparta Prague are playing an extra five minutes of Overtime, as the game ends 2-2 in regulation.

    Goal!

The Panthers have the crowd going wild again in Nottingham, as Nathan Robinson puts them back in the lead!

    Nottingham 2-1 Hamburg

We're still waiting for goals in Bern (vs. Stavanger) and Kloten (vs. Salzburg) – both games have gone 40 minutes without a breakthrough.

    All square!

EHC Ingolstadt have come from two down to level this game at 3 each against Vitkovice Steel. Martin Davidek got the tying goal, as these sides battle to avoid finishing last in Group H – and four an outside shot at finishing runners up.

It's also now 1-1 up in Karlstad, where Färjestad have levelled it up against Vålerenga Oslo. Klepis got the goal just before the half hour mark.

Janne Niskala has levelled the game for Lukko in Luleå, 1-1!

    CHL dream disappearing for Zlín?

With Fribourg winning, and Djurgården now going 3-0 up in Stockholm, Zlín could find themselves third in the group before tonight is out.

    Goal

Power Play Goal for Luleå! And there we have it, the deadlock is broken in this game of the two Group K giants. Chris Abbott passes Lucas Wallmark from the left to the right where Lucas bangs it in on a one-timer.

    Luleå 1-0 Lukko

Back underway for period 3 in Berlin, Ingolstadt, and and Mannheim. In Nottingham, the players are back out for the middle session.

    As things stand

We're still yet to see a deciding moment in the top of the tables clashes between Zurich and Vienna, and Lulea and Lukko. Both games are tied, and both will see the reverse fixtures take placed in a two weeks.

Are the teams trying to guarantee themselves a point, and not fall too far behind before the final round?

ZSC's Mike Künzle has been given 2+10 for Checking from behind as the period comes to a close in Zurich. It's ZSC Lions 1-1 Vienna Capitals.

Meanwhile in Bern, it's still scoreless between the hosts and Stavanger Oilers after two.

Just as I say a game is goalless, so it changes... Henrik Eriksson scores for Djurgårdens!

    1. Intermission

    Djurgårdens 1-0 Zlín
    Nottingham 1-1 Hamburg

    As things stand

Genève-Servette will go top of Group C overnight, before Frölunda play tomorrow. Fribourg-Gottéron look to keep their lead at the top of Group D, with Djurgårdens and Zlín currently goalless. Salzburg are tied at zero in Kloten, needing a win to go back over JYP who won in OT earlier.

    Goal!

Another powerplay goal by Vitkovice. Dynamic duo Svacina and Roman strike for first time tonight. Roma with great pass across the zone and Svacina had an open net.

    Ingolstadt 1-3 Vitkovice

    Goal!

Nottingham Panthers have taken the lead against Hamburg! Cody Wild got the goal on a rebound with a nice shot from an angle.

Also in Germany, Sparta Prague have tied the game in Mannheim thanks to Lukas Pech. 1-1 there.

    Period 2 underway

Meanwhile, the teams are back in action in Villach, Berlin, Mannheim, and Ingolstadt.

Things have got worse for Eisbären Berlin though, with Christian Dube putting Fribourg-Gotteron 2-0 ahead with 3:28 of the middle session played.

    1st Intermisison

Kloten Flyers 0-0 Red Bull Salzburg

We're underway in Luleå (vs Lukko) and Karlstad (vs Oslo)

    Eisbaren Berlin 0-1 Fribourg-Gotteron
    Adler Mmannheim 1-0 Sparta Prague

No goals in the OT period, so we're going to a shootout in Jyvaskyla!

    Goal!

Lukas Klok has put Vítkovice 2-0 up on the powerplay in Ingolstad with 13 minutes played.

Goal! Michal Hlinka has given Vítkovice Steel the lead in Ingolstadt with a goal at 08:03.

    All over in Trinec!

A 2-1 win for Tappara Tampere sees them close the gap on Trinec to just one point, before these sides meet again in a fortnight. It's now up to Bern and Stavanger to see who else wants to close the gap!

    Goal for HV71!

The Swedes won't give this one up, and are back tied at three through Ted Brithen with just over six minutes to play.

    HC Pardubice 1-3 HC Bolzano

    As things stand

    Goal for Třinec!
Finally we see a goal in this match, and it's a power-play goal for the home team! Marek Troncinsky finds MARTIN ADAMSKY who one-times it from point blank right into the net! Assistedy by Marek Troncinsky.

    Třinec 1-0 Tappara

The teams are back out for Period 3 in Pardubice. Bozen leads 2-1, but are being out-shot by their hosts 23-13!

Intermissions in both the live games up in Finland now... JYPJyvaskyla and HV71 are still tied at two each, whilst SaiPa have a healthy 3-0 lead over EV Zug. That said, we've seen some pretty awesome comebacks in the CHL so far, so it's still all to play for.

So just to recap where we are currently: four games are live across Europe, with 5 going live at 19:30 and 3 at 19:45. SaiPa have got themselves a healthy lead against EV Zug, and if this carries on they will go top of Group. Bolzano is leading in Parubice 2-1 after two, whilst JYP and HV71 are tied at 2-2 deep into the second period. In Třinec, it's goalless between the hosts and Tappara.

Thanks Michal, and just as I come online we've got a third goal for SaiPa!

    SaiPa 3-0 EV Zug

Halfway into the first bath of games, this is Michal Berg signing off and my colleague Luke Fisher will take over and guide you through the rest
    of the action.
Bolzano scores again. Typical goal for the South Tyrolean team. Few quick steps on the wing and an accurate to the right upper corner shot. Mario Insam, Italian national team player, makes it 2:1 for Bolzano

    Pardubice – Bolzano 1:2

HV71 scores in the middle of the second period. 21 seconds into the powerplay, puck goes to blueline and Mattias Karlsson shoots it in! A lot of traffic in front of Tarkki. The first CHL goal for this big defenceman

    Jyp Jyväskylä – HV71 2:1

Lukas Nahodil equalized the game in Pardubice. Vaclav Benak fired the powerplay shot from the blueline and Nahodil took an easy rebound.

    Pardubice – Bolzano 1:1

There are four EBEL clubs in the CHL and Vienna and Salzburg among the group leaders. CHL success no surprise for them, as you can read in this IIHF.com piece.

    Recap after the first periods:

HC CSOB Pojišťovna Pardubice – HC Bolzano 0:1
Only 5 shots on goal was enough for Bolzano to lead.

    JYP Jyväskylä – HV 71 2:0
Both teams had some good moments but JYP was the only team able to score from those chances.

Ocelari Trinec – Tappara Tampere 0:0
Ocelari played a bit better, got two power-plays but couldn't score yet.

    SaiPa – Zug 2:0
Already 68 penalty minutes in the first period! Lappalainen made it 2:0 for home side late in the period. Shots on Goal: SaiPa 19, Zug 4
Anssi Löfman goal from the JyP – HV71 game. You can watch all games live, purchase you gameday pass here

Jesse Mankinen scores his first goal for SaiPa Lappeenranta by deflecting shot by Simo-Pekka Riikola.

Menawhile, Cramo top scorer of EV Zug Robbie Earl left the ice to the locker room. He has been target by a huge hit earlier in the game.

We have a quick goal in Jyväskylä as well. Petr Hubacek sent a nice pass from the left wing and Anssi Löfman released a nice shot from the slot.

    Jyp Jyväskylä – HV71 1:0

That was quick in Pardubice. Derek Nesbitt scores first goal for Bolzano after 32 seconds of play. Nesbitt and Mark Cullen worked hard in the offensive zone, managed to get the puck and Nesbitt scores the initial goal of the game.

HC CSOB Pojistovna Pardubice – HC Bolzano 0:1
And just before the puck drops of Gameday 5, revive the Top 5 goals by Cramo top scorer from Gameday 4.

On Game Day 5, four of the 22 games will be officiated by Russian KHL referees. That's because the Champions Hockey League has been integrated into IIHF Referee Exchange Program.

Therefore, Pardubice – Bolzano and Kloten – Salzburg on 23 September and Liberec – Köln on 24 September will be officiated by a Russian referee, who will join one referee and two linesmen from the home countries.

SaiPa Lappeenranta hosts EV Zug at 17:30 CET.

SaiPa captain and 1st line center Ville Koho won't be playing tonight due to back spasms he got during the second period of the Finnish league game against JYP on Saturday. He will replaced by Matti Järvinen in the lineup.

EV Zug will miss their productive blueliner Daniel Sondell (1+4). Swedish defenceman is ill and did not travel to Finland. Also Swiss national team player Dario Burgler is missing, he got his leg injured on September 16th in NLA game and will be sidelined for several weeks.

Finnish JYP Jyväskylä plays Swedish HV71 Jönköping at 17:30 CET.

Both teams have been struggling in their national leagues and earned only six points out of four games. JYP is currently 8th in Liiga and HV71 is 4th in SHL.

Eric Perrin, Cramo top scorer of JYP, has been sidelined on Sunday's league game and his appearance today wasn't sure, but coach Marko Virtanen dressed him for tonight.

Cramo top scorer of HV71 is Erik Christensen with 5 poins in 4 games.

Game in Trinec will be special for Czech goalie Dominik Hrachovina, who will be a starter for Tappara. They stated it on their twitter. It'll be the very first appearance for Hrachovina as a Tappara's No.1 in his career.

Hrachovina was raised in Brno, Czech republic, but has been playing in Finland since 2010.

    14:58
One of the highlights of early action is the game at Trinec, Czech Republic. Ocelari have opened a four-point lead on top of Group E and a potential win tonight against Tappara would seal their promotion to playoffs and group victory. Tappara on the other hand could close the gap to just a single point and with a return game scheduled in two weeks time in Tampere, things could go right down to the final game in this group.
Exceptionally busy day of action awaits us tonight with many direct duels for first place in respective groups and playoff berths.
