2015 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship press conference - tickets sale

Wednesday 29.10.2014, 10:00Press conference

Thank you for following this press conference and remember, daily ticket packages for the 2015 IIHF World Championship go on sale November 4th at 8:00 AM CET! (10:57:20)

Martin Urban: "I think a lot of playing days will be sold out very soon. Before 2012, the system was completely different for tournaments, as no one knew who would play against whom and ticket prices had to be set in advance. In this system, we know exactly who is playing against whom and when. We wanted to keep the system as simple as possible, so in contrast to nine price categories in Minsk we have only two in Prague and one in Ostrava."

"We are organizing events between the games. We have eight non-working days off throughout the tournament schedule (including three weekends and two Czech public holidays on May 1st and 8th, both Fridays). Since the group stage is long, I think these days should be sold out very soon through the individual packages."

"We have also chosen four games that we are calling 'Family Games' so that going to a game can be affordable to the whole family. They will be on non-working days, with prices of CZK 270 and 190. "

Martin Urban: "At this time, there will be 13,621 individual tickets available for sale to each game at O2 Arena. Other seats will go to sponsors and the International Ice Hockey Federation. The total capacity is just over 17,000.

"Compared to 2004, where there was a Skoda car in one corner, next year we have reserved Skoda in two corners. You also need to block out space for broadcasters and commentators. There are also obligations to the teams participating. In each arena will therefore reduce capacity by about 3,500. Our problem is the size of our arenas.

"Capacity of CEZ Arena in Ostrava is at this time 6,126."

Radka Bařtipánová: "Good morning, we have put together several guides on how fans can purchase tickets. In the Czech Republic they can be purchased at all SazkaTicket outlets and at the box offices of both arenas in Prague and Ostrava. Regarding Sazka outlets, this is mostly cash, while at the arenas you can also pay by card.

"You can also purchase tickets online. You will get a reservation number which you can then use to pick up tickets at any Sazka outlet. The reservation number is valid for two calendar days. If you do not pick up the tickets and pay in this time, the tickets go back on sale.

"For fans abroad, there is the option to buy your tickets online by card and have them mailed to you. In the customer centre will also deal with bulk orders, which are orders of more than 30 daily packages to one of the arenas."

"For fans who want to enjoy championship as a social event both available in hospitality program, which covers the first category tickets. These terms get tickets through us, through the organizing committee. "

Robert Chvátal: "Good morning on behalf of SazkaTicket. Exactly ten years ago we started selling tickets. Now we have a large number of outlets, which is our biggest advantage.

"Also important is the opportunity to buy tickets over the internet, so we've upgraded our system to handle the load, which is currently under control. The system should be customer-accessible and should warn the customer that he or she is on the waiting list and must wait his or her turn.

"The system supports credit card payments, so people can buy tickets from abroad.

"I saw the tickets today for the first time and it's definitely a nice souvenir. I therefore suggest that people not wait until the last minute, but buy your tickets as soon as possible to ensure that you get them."

"Ten years ago we broke the record of attendance and tickets sold (over 500,000), and we believe that we overcome tentok record again this year."

"Hockey stake to one of the organizers and I wish to record really fit."

Markéta Štěrbová: "We are selling daily packages for games in one arena. We assume that in February we will put individual tickets on sale. We assume that interest will be largest at the beginning of the sales. It's definitely an excellent Christmas gift, so packages like that are definitely a beautiful thing.

"The retailer is Sazka Ticket. We tried to be original in terms of the design of the tickets. We believe that we've succeeded and will fans like it."

Markéta Štěrbová: "Tickets will go on sale 4 November at 8:00 AM CET."

Martin Urban: "Gradually we are fulfilling the wishes of CSLH president Tomas Kral, who wants the organization to be ready for the World Championship as if we were playing in January.

Last week I attended a press conference with the Organizing Committee for Ostrava in Bratislava, and there was a large media presence, which we love.

In addition to sporting success we have a problem that we would need larger halls."

Martin Urban: "Good morning, we are entering the most important phase of organizing the World Championship, which is the start of ticket sales. Income from ticket sales is the most most important source of income for the entire tournament. We dare not predict too far ahead in terms of revenue, but we can say that our costs are in the horizon of CZK 430 million (approximately EUR 15 million). "

The press conference is now beginning.

At this press conference, the procedure by which tickets will be sold to the 2015 IIHF World Championship will be announced. This includes prices, as well as how, when and where they can be purchased.

Welcome. This press conference starts live from Prague at 10:00 CET.
