Luka Gracnar has been spectacular in goal so far in the CHL for Salzburg, but his team will need need luck without him tonight against a Lulea club that scored 32 goals in the group stage.
Chris Abbott, who had eight points for Lulea in the group stage, gave this video interview today on the team website.
Game 1 is tonight in Lulea at 20:05 CET. If you can't get out to the game or watch it on TV, buy our CHL Game Day Pass and watch both tonight's game and game 2 next week in Salzburg.

The winners of the series, who will advance to the quarter-finals, will be determined according to the following criteria:
1) The team that scores the most goals after 120 minutes of hockey (two regulation games) is the winner. For this purpose, the football "away goal rule" does not apply. All goals carry equal weight.
2) No Overtime or Game-Winning Shots (shootout) will be played after the first game, even if it ends in a tie. Overtime will only be played after the second game if the total series score is even.
3) Overtime in the eighth-finals, quarter-finals and semi-finals will be 10 minutes in length and sudden-death (golden goal). Teams will skate 4-on-4 at full strength.
4) As in all penalty shootouts so far in the CHL, teams will continue to use five shooters each.
But that all doesn't matter now and both teams head into the game with the same starting position.
The all-Finnish battle brings the very first goal of CHL playoffs. Ilkka Mikkola moves in front of the net and buries Gagnon´s pass into the net. Lukko takes the lead.
Wow! What a start by Frölunda. They are absolutely dominating the game at Tampere. Erik Gustafsson, Christian Bäckman and Andreas Johnson have scored three goals in five minutes to put their side into the driving seat. Uphill task now for Tappara, can they recover?
JYP have come from behind to lead against Skelleftea. Markus Hännikainen and Eric Perrin reacted to Holmström's opener and this clash promises more goals in the coming periods.
Strong start to the game by Kärpät here. Capitals were strong on a powerplay in the opening minutes, but the home team has the upper hand and Adam Masuhr together with Joonas Donskoi framed the final ten minutes of the period with their goals.
Aaron Gagnon put Lukko 2-0 ahead after 12 minutes of play, but Tero Koskiranta pulled one back with a minute to go in the first period. That promises a lot of drama for the upcoming minutes, too.
First period over in Prague, with Sparta and Linkoping still 0-0. All other games are now in the second period. Ryan Glenn has increased Karpat's lead to 3-0 on home ice vs Vienna, while Lukko Rauma now leads 3-1 in Turku thanks to Henrik Forsberg's goal.
It's now 3-1 JYP as Markus Hannikainen finishes off a nice passing play on the power play.
What a beautiful solo rush by Juuso Ikonen! Beats three Skelleftea defenders by himself, including a great move at the blue line before scoring with a low shot to the far side.
Lukko is running away with this one. Jonne Virtanen fires a slapshot from the blue line past Lassila on a powerplay with two minutes to go in the second period.
The evening is just getting worse for Tappara. Young goalie Dominik Hrachovina attempts to stop the puck behind his own net but fails to do so and Anthon Blidh takes advantage, scoring a short-handed goal.
Skellefteå has been relatively dominant so far in CHL, but the Swedish side is in serious trouble now. Markus Nenonen moves in front of the net to make it already 5-1 for JYP. Still 20 minutes to go tonight and another game in a week´s time, but there is work to do for the Swedish powerhouse.
17:30 Kärpät Oulu – Vienna Capitals 3:0
17:30 JYP Jyväskylä – Skellefteå AIK 5:1
17:30 TPS Turku – Lukko Rauma 1:4
17:30 Tappara Tampere – Frölunda 0:4
18:00 Sparta Prague – Linköping HC 0:0
Sparta and Linköping are still goalless midway through the game in Prague.
Linköping takes the lead in Prague and credit goes to Jeff Taffe who lines up a perfect pass for Jacob Micflikier to score into the open net. Important goal for the Swedish team.
More joy for fans in Sweden as Mattias Jänmark increases Indians lead to 5-0 with 12 minutes to go. Is this tie over already?
Jonathan Ferland puts Vienna on the scoreboard in what may be a very important goal for the Austrian team. They will have the home advantage in the return leg.
Skellefteå pulls one back through Kirill Kabanov. Still a three-goal gap in this one, but with a prospect of the return leg in Sweden, nothing is certain yet.
Remarkable comeback by Skellefteå! 5-1 down after 40 minutes, they have now scored three goals within 11 minutes of the third period. Niclas Burström and Andrew Calof score twice from pressure in the offensive zone and the fight for victory is very much on.
Ville Vahalahti puts a final stamp on Lukko´s victory in Turku. Great result for the team from Rauma. They will start the second leg at home with a 4-goal cushion. It is not over yet, but it will be very difficult for TPS.
In a great game of hockey, Kärpät takes a two-goal advantage into the second leg, but chances are pretty much open here. Vienna still very much in the game in just one week´s time.
Antti Erkinjuntti eventually put Tampere on the scoreboard but that is all Tappara could manage tonight and they face a very difficult task next week in Göthenburg. A commanding performance by Frölunda.
Lot of drama in the end, but JYP eventually prevails and takes a win. With 5-1 up after two periods, I am sure they were hoping for more than a narrow one-goal lead, though. All to play for next week in Sweden.
Mathias Karlsson put Linköping 2-0 up in Prague, but Lukas Cingel replied shortly afterwards. The Swedish side still in front with little over 10 minutes to go.
The Swedish team holds on to their narrow lead and wins the game, meaning Sparta will have to win next week to stand a chance of qualifying for the quarterfinals.

With 57 seconds to go in the first period, Salzburg score and take the lead in Sweden thanks to Troy Milam, scoring a close-range goal from Walter´s pass.
Canadian forward Jeff Tambellini opens the scoring and puts Fribourg in the lead with his rebound.
Finally our first goal in Geneve. Kevin Romy takes advantage of a loose puck in front of the net and sends it high under the crossbar.
The game is tied in Fribourg where Nikolai Goldobin goes on a beautiful solo effort and beats Conz with a precise finish ala Peter Forsberg.
Surprise? Red Bull takes a two-goal lead in Sweden and the goal scorer is again a US player – this time Brett Sterling.
Great movement by Kevin Romy who leaves a defenseman behind to free himself right in front of the net and bury Kast´s pass into the open net.
Home side pushed forward and was punished at the back when Kyle Beach´s deflected effort found its way into the net. However, shortly afterwards Lucas Wallmark scores to give his team a lifeline.
Goals galore in Luleå but home fans are far from happy. Red Bull restores a respectable three-goal cushion thanks to Zdenek Kutlak. The Czech defenseman takes advantage of Larsson´s pad and sends the puck into the net.
19:45 Fribourg-Gottéron – IFK Helsinki 1:1
19:45 Genève-Servette – SaiPa Lappeenranta 2:0
20:05 Luleå Hockey – Red Bull Salzburg 1:4
David Wildhaber puts Fribourg back in front with a hammer shot from the blue line.
We have a tied game again in Fribourg, because Tomas Zaborsky equalizes with six minutes to go in the third period.
Remember, tonight´s game will end after 60 minutes even if scores are level.
Our first (and probably only) tie of the night is in Fribourg. The home side takes the lead twice, but IFK responded quickly both times and is going to be happier of the two teams after the game. The Finns earn an encouraging result for the second leg at home.
Robert Mayer earns an impressive shotout on home ice as Geneve celebrates a 2-0 victory. This tie is far from over, but SaiPa will have to step up the performance next week in eastern Finland in order to fight for a quarterfinal berth.
Luleå eventually scores in final minutes of the game and improve their chances for the return leg thanks to Daniel Zaar´s deflection 68 seconds before the end of the game. But Red Bull will be the happier team, anyway, taking a two-goal cushion back home to Austria. (22:19:53)
My name is Lukas Peroutka, thanks for following us and we will be back in just one week's time for the conclusion of all eighth-final series. Have a good night!
