IFK Helsinki tallied late in the game to make it 3-1 and they are now qualified for the quarter finals. Which team they'll face is up to this game to decide. About 20 minutes to start of this game between Frölunda Gothenburg and Tappara Tampere (20.05 CET).

My name is Efraim Larsson and I'll guide you through this game between Frölunda Gothenburg – Tappara Tampere. Hope you're as pumped for this game as I am, I think it will be a high intense game with a lot of speed.

The intro is under way and the players will soon enter the ice.

And the players of Frölunda Gothenburg is on the ice!

And we're ready for the game here in Scandinavium. I want to remind you that Frölunda has the lead in the total score right now; 5-1.

    00:01
    Game started.

    00:17
Tappara gets a great chance right in the beginning when Olli Palola gets the puck in the slot. Great save by Frölundas goalie Lars Johansson though.

It's pretty interesting that both Fernström and Hrachovina (the starting goalies in Game 1) are benched today.

    02:40
Frölunda puts a lot of pressure on Tappara in their own zone. High intense and a great tempo in the beginning of the game.

    4:05
First penalty of the game afflicts Tappara's Pekka Jormakka, 2 minutes for tripping.

    4:31
    Power Play Goal for Frölunda!
Frölunda is the best PP-team in the tournament and they take advantage of another one. ANDREAS JOHNSSON snaps it in. Assisted by: Artturi Lehkonen & Robin Figren.
    1-0 Frölunda (Total score: 6-1)

    06:02
Tappara creates a great attack in the end zone, but they can't seem to get the shots on goal when they have the chances.

    07:23
Tappara has started this game pretty good. A lot of puck in the offensive zone the latest minutes.

    08:07
    Goal for Frölunda!
What a beautiful goal by PONTUS WIDERSTRÖM. He bats it in the air like a baseball on a rebound from Metsola. Assisted by: Christian Bäckman & Magnus Kahnberg.
    2-0 Frölunda (Total 7-1)
    Pontus WIDERSTRÖM - 2:0

    09:39
As I wrote just before the second goal I think that Tappara has started this game pretty good offensively. But it ain't the offense that is the problem here. Defense lacks a bit. It's just too bad that the goals are coming in the wrong goal.

    11:31
Frölunda's first penalty of the game hits Mattias Janmark who goes to the box, 2 minutes for Hooking.

    POWERPLAY
    Tappara Tampere – 9 goals on 36 chances = 25.00% (12th in the CHL)

    PENALTY KILLING
Frölunda Gothenburg – 2 allowed goals on 21 chances = 90.48% (2nd in the CHL)

    13:01
Frölunda is definitely showing off their great penalty killing skills right now. Tappara can't create anything or keep the puck in the zone. Half a minute left of the penalty.

    13:31
And just a second after I wrote that Tappara creates such a great attack with a few great scoring chances. Johansson comes up big in the net though.

    Frölunda is at full strenght.

    14:55
Tappara is having a little trouble closing the neutral zone. Frölunda manages to get through a little bit too often and a bit too easy.

    17:00
Frölundas Anton Blidh fribbles with the puck on offensive blue and giving away an opportunity for Tappara who gets a 2-on-0-chance. Jarkko Malinen and Pekka Jormakka is free with Johansson, but Jormakka's shot goes wide and the score is still 2-0 to Frölunda (7-1 total)

    19:00
One minute left of the period.

    20:00
    1st period finished.

It's a pretty wierd first period. Frölunda is the better team with a lot of puck possession, but Tappara's turnovers are not totally innocuous. 2-0 might not reflect the game on ice, but that's what we have to deal with now. Frölunda is up 7-1 in the total score.

Shots in the first period: 6-6
    Penalty minutes: 2-2

We're back with the 2nd period around 20.54 CET.

    20:01
    Start of 2nd period.

    23:20
Not a certain well-played start of the 2nd period yet.

    24:58
Frölunda's defenceman Elias Fälth goes to the box, 2 minutes for Tripping.

    26:30
Tappara have a little tribe of fans cheering for them in this PP, but they can't create any scoring chances.

    26:58
Yet again Tappara managed to create a little pressure in the end of the PP, but Frölunda is at full strength now.

    28:51
Tappara is in charge of the puck for a while after the PP and have a lot of puck in the offensive zone, but Frölunda's defence is still very solid.

    29:31
A great attack by Frölunda ends with a great save by Metsola when Robin Figren tries close to the net.

    32:00
Frölunda has stepped up a bit now and are playing more and more in Tappara's zone.

    32:55
Frölunda's Pontus Widerström goes to the box for Slashing, 2 minutes.

    33:30
Tappara's third PP of the game and they're starting this one way better than the two previous ones.

    34:55
Anton Blidh drops his stick but can get the puck out of the zone anyway. Frölunda is now at full strenght.

    35:15
    Goal for Frölunda!
MATS ROSSELI OLSEN makes it all by himself when he takes the step in front of the goal and puts the rebound in behind Metsola from close. Assisted by Andreas Johnsson & Mathis Olimb.
3-0 Frölunda (8-1 in the series)
    Mats ROSSELI OLSEN - 3:0

    39:30
Not much to report right now, to be honest. The game feels a little flat . Tappara seemed to have lost their fighting will (totally understandable) while Frölunda just keep marching on.

    40:00
    2nd period finished.

The 2nd game ends 1-0 to Frölunda and we have 3-0 to Frölunda in this game and 8-1 in the series.

As I wrote recently the game feels a bit flat now since Frölunda marches on while Tappara ain't having much to play for right now.

Shots in the 2nd period: 16-4 (totals after 2: 22-10)
    Penalty minutes: 4-0 (totals: 6-2)

The 3rd period will start around 21:43 CET.

And the players hit the ice for the third period. In just a minute we will start it.

    40:01
    Start of 3rd period.

    42:12
Great start by Frölunda in the third period.

    42:57
    Goal for Tappara!
TEDDY DA COSTA steals the puck in Frölunda's zone and snaps it in behind Johansson. Unassisted. 3-1 Frölunda (8-2 in the series)

Tappara's Jan-Mikael Järvinen gets a breakaway but a great backcheck by Christoffer Persson who can take away the chance.

    45:12
Frölunda's Erik Karlsson gets a breakaway but can't beat Metsola in Tappara's goal. Great pad save.

    45:35
Tappara's Patrik Laine gets 2 minutes penalty for Elbowing.

Frölunda's second PP of the game. They scored in the first one.

    46:13
Artturi Lehkonen makes a great effort when he on his own creates a great chance, but Metsola makes a great glove save.

    47:01
Frölunda is playing a really good PP right now. Magnus Kahnberg hits the cross bar.

    47:14
    Power Play Goal for Frölunda!
MAX GÖRTZ breaks in in front of the goal and puts the puck underneath Metsola's pad. Assisted by: Anton Blidh.
    4-1 Frölunda (9-2)

    48:40
    Goal for Tappara!
PEKKA JORMAKKA takes advantage of another bad play by Erik Gustafsson in Frölunda's zone and he bangs it in behind Johansson to 4-2. Unassisted.
    9-3 in the series.
    Pekka JORMAKKA - 4:2

    49:17
Artturi Lehkonen (Frölunda) gets 2 minutes penalty for Tripping.

    51:17
A really good PP by Tappara, but they can't capitalize and Frölunda is playing with full strength right now.

    51:25
And just seconds later Frölunda's d-man Elias Fälth gets a great chance in front of the goal but Metsola saves another one.

    53:19
Frölunda's duo Mathis Olimb and Andreas Johnsson is having a blast out there now. Olimb is a goal post hit from another goal.

    53:27
Pasi Puistola of Tappara goes to the penalty box for 2 minutes for Roughing.

    55:27
Tappara is playing solid in the PK and manage to fix it. They're now at full strenght.

    59:00
It's just a minute left of this game and Frölunda will advance to the quarter finals. They will face IFK Helsinki and thanks to the record from the Group Stage and these two games against Tappara they will have the "advantage" of home ice and play the second game at home.

    60:00
    Game over.

Frölunda wins it with 4-2 and wins the series with 9-3. I'll now head down to the dressing rooms for post-game commentaries and will be back soon.

Shots in the 3rd period: 13-5 (totals 35-15)
    Penalty minutes: 2-4 (totals 8-6).

    Pekka Jormakka MVP for Tappara.
    Andreas Johnsson MVP for Frölunda.

Head coach of Frölunda, Roger Rönnberg after the game:

"I think we had problems setting up the intensity in the beginning, just like the first game against Tappara. I don't think we played good enough in the first period 'cause we made a couple bad and late calls which caused us trouble. In the second period though we stepped up a bit and made the snatch we needed to win the game.

One reason to our hesitant start might be that our roster have been splitted a lot the latest week with players who have been out on trips with national teams, players who have been injured etc.. That of course have made an impact of that we haven't been able to practice with full lines etc. Of course that isn't the whole truth and there's other reasons that we didn't play as we should have, but we made it and advanced to the quarter finals!

I can't say we have any special knowledge about IFK Helsinki yet. We met them in European Trophy last year but we don't know nothing more than that. So we have about a month to study videos of them to get as prepared as possible."
