1-0 "First time we did it. We didn't even practice it. It was just something that our Head Coach drew on the board. I'd say it worked really well."
2-0 "I got an excellent pass from Kemppainen and got to backhand it towards the goal. It's always nice to score shorthanded."

Even though SaiPa has taken points in it's games it has had problems with winning them during regular time in the finnish league. A week ago they finally took first three point win against TPS in almost two months. The last win was from october 4th when the team beat newly promoted Vaasan Sport 6-2 at home.
In the CHL SaiPa has also battled against productivity. In the first round of playoffs the team lost to Genéve-Servette in Switzerland 2-0, but won the second leg at home 4-2 and after a thrilling shoot-out advanced to the quarter finals.
SaiPa and Kärpät are familiar with each other. Even though they have met only once this season, with Kärpät collecting the win with a 3-0 score, they faced each other also last seasons semifinals. On that occasion Kärpät was the better team, winning the series 4-1 and ultimately winning the championship over Tappara.
After struggling early in the season Kärpät is on a roll. From the last 11 games they've won seven and ended up three times playing the overtime, so the northest team in the league has collected 26 points from possible 33 during the run.
Kärpät faced Austrian Vienna Capitals on the first round of the playoffs and advanced to quarter finals with a 6-3 aggregate.
Kärpät will bring some familiar faces to Lappeenranta as forward Patrick Davis and defencemen Ryan Glenn and Dan Spang will be facing their former teammates for the first time at Kisapuisto.
The game will start 17.30 CET, 18.30 finnish time.
