Tuesday 09.12.2014, 14:00Champions Hockey League gameday liveblog

That's it for all of tonight's game, thank you for being with us here for some great CHL action – see you in the semi-finals! (22:58:04)

Skellefteå AIK win the shootout 1-0, and advance to the semi-finals!

Nope, no goals in OT – it's a shoot-out in Skellefteå!

Late drama in Skellefteå – the home side have a powerplay deep into overtime

We're going to overtime in Skellefteå AIK

    Goal!

Would you believe it?! Broc Little has scored for Linköping at 58:58 to tie the aggregate score!

The goalie is out, Linköping go 6-on-4

A 3-3 game in Skellefteå means that the home side will make it through – can Linköping find a tying goal in the dying stages?

The final period of today's action has jut begun... or has it. A solitary goal for Linköping could take us to overtime.

It's 2-2 in Skellefteå after two periods.

Oskar Sundqvist has put Skellefteå AIK back in the lead of their match-up... the game tonight is 2-2, but they lead Linköping now by 4-3.

In Skellefteå, Linköping have gone ahead through Fredric Andersson. That makes the score 2-1 on the night to the visitors, and 3-3 on aggregate.

    That's it!

Frölunda Gothenburg 5-3 IFK Helsinki, aggregate 6-5, final score

    Goooooooooooooal!

Frölunda have scored with just 50 seconds to go... is that enough to win it?!

A huge effort from HIFK to kill off a 5-on-3

    Goal!

Neither side wants to lose this game in Gothenburg. Helsinki have scored through Robert Leino again – the score on the night is now 4-3 to Frölunda, but 5-5 on aggregate!

Elsewhere in Sweden, Skellefteå AIK have equalised to tie the game at 1-1 vs. Linköping. That means the home side are 3-2 up on aggregate.

    Goal!

It's all change in Gothenburg – Frölunda have scored again to make it 4-2, and now lead 5-4 overall.

    Goal!

Frölunda just won't give this one up... they go 3-2 up on the night to tie 4-4 on aggregate thanks to Robin Figren.

    Goal!

    Frölunda Gothenburg 2-2 IFK Helsinki

Corey Elkins has struck for HIFK, meaning they're level on the night. More importantly, the Finns lead 4-3 now on aggregate. The home side has 16 minutes to sort this one out!

    As it stands...

So far, we have 1 Liiga and 1 SHL team in the next round. We're guarenteed one more from the SHL in the Skellefteå AIK – Linköping game, but Gothenburg vs. Helsinki still hands in the balance at 3-3 on aggregate.

It's all over in Luleå – the home side wins 2-1 to record a 7-3 aggregate victory!

So the late game tonight is between Skellefteå AIK & Linköping HC. The home side went into the match with a 2-1 lead, but Linköping have already scored to level the match-up at 2-2. Jonas Almtorp was the scorer at 9:02.

IFK Helsinki have struck back! Robert Leino opens his side's account on the night, trailing now 2-1. This means the match-up is tied 3 each overall.

Another goal in Gothenburg, Frölunda now leads 2-0 and 3-2 overall

It's all over in Oulu – Kärpät go through 5-2!

Meanwhile two goals in 18 seconds have virtually assured Luleå a place in the next round. They lead Lukko Rauma now by 7-2 on aggregate.

Kärpät Oulu have re-taken the lead against SaiPa for the 2nd time, and lead 3-2 on the night.

A couple of goals have gone in...

In Oulu, SaiPa have levelled the score on the night... but they still trail 4-2 on aggregate.

Meanwhile in Gothenburg, Frölunda have gone 1-0 up, which means it's tied 2-2 on aggregate.

Joonas Donskoi has struck for Karpat... putting them 4-1 up now on aggregate. Is it all over for SaiPa?

Is this the final period that Kärpät or SaiPa will play in the CHL this season? SaiPa need two goals to level things up on aggregate, and three to win the match-up overall. Kärpät just need to avoid losing this period by more than a goal, and they'll make the next round!

We're also under way in the Frölunda Gothenburg – IFK Helsinki game... the visitors arrive in Sweden with a slender one goal advantage.

It's also end of the period in Lulea, where things have finished goalless. This means the hosts remain three goals up overall.

    Goal!

What a wonderful time for Karpat to score, but a terrible time to conceed for SaiPa. At 19:59 of period two, Joonas Kemppainen has equalised for Karpat, and put them back with a two goal league on aggregate. 3-1 overall it stands after two periods.

SaiPa still leads in Oulu, but remains one goal down on aggregate. In Lulea, the game is scoreless after 12 minutes.

Pack drops in Luleå, 30 minutes to go until we start in Gothenburg!

    Back under way in Oulu

Starting in 15 minutes, Luleå Hockey – Lukko Rauma

End of period 1: Kärpät Oulu 0-1 SaiPa Lappeenranta (Agg: 2-1)

    Goal!

And it's gone to SaiPa! They now trail 1-2 in the aggregate scoring.

More penalty trouble for SaiPa – but they survive again!

SaiPa survived an early Oulu powerplay, but will have to hold out for another two minutes now as well

    Underway in Oulu!

Here we go then, the first puck of tonight is about to be dropped between Kärpät Oulu – SaiPa Lappeenranta.

Oulu has a 2-0 lead from the first leg.

And finally, a Swedish battle to round-up the evening. Skelleftea holds a narrow 2-1 lead over Linköping thanks to an unorthodox goal by Oscar Sundqvist. "It was quite fun to score a goal even if it was more like a soccer goal," Sundqvist joked afterward. "A few guys kicked around that puck but it was fun. Every goal counts. I was in the right place at the right time."

IFK has the upper hand so far in the Finnish-Swedish battle, leading 2-1 after the first leg. Frölunda was very unhappy about their performance, though, so you can expect a lot of drama in this tie, as well.
Lulea Hockey will go into the second leg of their Champions Hockey League tie against Lukko Rauma in a strong position on home ice, having beaten the Finnish club by a three-goal margin. Lukko head coach Risto Dufva said: "Lulea were good, but the difference in play wasn't as big as the score indicates, but we have to accept that and move on. They were so successful today because we made a lot of mistakes."

In just over an hour the first game of tonight's CHL fixtures will get under way... Kärpät vs. SaiPa, with the hosts taking a 2-0 lead on to home ice with them.
    Kärpät – SaiPa, 17:30 CET, agg. 2:0

Karpat Oulu will head into the second leg of their Champions Hockey League game against SaiPa Lappeenranta not only on home ice, but also with a two goal cushion. Joonas Donskoi scored the first game's only two goals as Karpat made the most of their 12 shots on goal. However, Saipa´s coach Pekka Tirkkonen says: "We were down two goals last time. We still believe in ourselves and we'll get ready for it. There's still 60 minutes remaining."
