There is the final buzzer, and HC Sibir Novosibirsk have thumped Barys Astana 4:0 in Siberia! They were a level above their opponents today, and fully deserve their win. Dmitriy Monya, Sergey Shumakov and Alexey Kopeikin with a double struck for the victors, with goaltender Alexander Salak grabbing a shutout for himself. Thanks for following the game with us, and join me again soon for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl against Dynamo Moscow in the KHL! (16:43:49)

    60:00
    Game over.

    59:51
The final seconds are now here, with Sibir cruising to a hard earned 4:0 victory on home ice!

    59:33
Before we are out one last penalty is called against the forlorn Kazakh visitors, as Nikolay Antropov has been found guilty of holding his opponent

    59:00
Pavel Poluektov, who hasn't been bad at all for Barys, clings on to a dangerous Maxim Shalunov wrist shot as it was a two on one Sibir counterattack

    58:14
Artyom Voroshilo steams on the right wing, backhands it across, and no one is fast enough to catch up with his dish!

    57:34
Alexander Salak grabs a comfortable wrister by his blocker to keep his net clean. Sibir have shown their class today, against a very bad tempered, and toothless, Barys side!

    56:47
    Goal for Sibir!
With a man's advantage Sibir grab their fourth! From exactly the same position on the left ALEXEY KOPEIKIN nets his brace! Powerplay goal and it's 4:0! Assists- Dmitriy Monya and Jarno Koskiranta

    56:14
Wow, what a fight we have just had! Barys head coach Andrey Nazarov was seen telling his young forward Damir Ryspaev to go and fight, and he did just that by taking on Vitaliy Menshikov! And for that Damir Ryspaev has been hit with a 5+20 penalty!

    55:57
    Goal for Sibir!
That will surely be that now! A juicy rebound falls at the feet of ALEXEY KOPEIKIN to the left of the crease, and he hits the jackpot! Powerplay goal and it's 3:0! Assists- Patrik Hersley and Konstantin Alekseev

    55:41
Barys are losing their heads now! Nigel Dawes snaps his stick against a Sibir defenceman's leg, and for that he has received a 2+10 penalty ending his game! Konstantin Rudenko will sit this one out for his team

    55:33
Sannikov! On a lightning quick breakaway Stepan Sannikov does a full 360 around his opponent, and is denied by a wonderful reaction save from Pavel Poluektov!

    55:11
Alexander Salak loses his stick, a deflected slap shot clatters in, and he still gets his pads on it to keep it out!

    55:01
All the play is being dictated by Barys now as only five minutes remain, they have to keep trying to get something beyond the perfect Alexander Salak!

    51:39
Battling forward Stepan Sannikov bullies his way on to the danger zone form the right wing, squares it, and Barys defencemen hack it clear under pressure

    50:17
After Mike Lundin's slap shot is stoned plenty of bodies fall on top of each other of the crease, and the referees do a good job of splitting everyone up before tempers can raise!

    50:09
Oskars Bartulis draws his stick back, and finds the goalkeeper's awaiting chest. You can't criticize Barys for a lack of effort, however time is rather against them now

    48:39
Shumakov! That was the chance to practically finish this game off! Sergey Shumakov takes up the loose puck on the doorstep, but he contrives to slap well wide! He had the whole target to aim it!

    47:37
Kevin Dallman tees Dmitriy Upper on the left faceoff circle, however the latter's effort doesn't have enough power behind it to trouble Alexander Salak

    45:47
Fourth liner Igor Fefelov jinks his way inside his marker glove side, shoots with strength, and Pavel Poluektov is on his game to gather. Remember that he is yet to concede after replacing Jan Laco in the first period!

    44:42
Dallman! Kevin Dallman is open by the right hand post, he's fed cleverly, and near post his one timer is denied by the goalkeeper! That was a real opportunity to hit the net!

    43:03
Koskiranta! Jarno Koskiranta sneaks in beyond his defender on the left, fires looking for the far corner, and Pavel Poluektov holds up his arm to take it in neatly

    41:17
Roman Starchenko shows just how fast he can skate powering into Sibir's zone, and wrists not too far wide of Alexander Salak's right post! He doesn't want to see his shutout taken away from him!

    40:50
Home forward Alexey Efimenko pulls out to the right flank from the middle, wrists with haste, and a Barys stick deflects it over the boards and out of play

    40:12
The third, and crucial period, has got going! Barys have it all to do, while Sibir are feeling comfortable two to the good!

    40:01
    Start of 3rd period.

Statistics after the first two periods:

    Hits: 9-13
    Penalty minutes: 10-48

    40:00
    2nd period finished.

    39:52
The final seconds of a pacy second period have now arrived, with Sibir still in control with only 20 minutes remaining!

    36:40
Bobrov! All of a sudden it's Sibir making all the running again! Viktor Bobrov winds up from the tip of the crease, and it's smashed into the netminder's left pad! Maybe he should have even done better!

    35:39
Patrik Hersley falls up against the boards on the left, still manages to dump into the crease, and Pavel Poluektov takes charge of the situation by catching

    34:55
Ignatovich! As the puck is trapped inside the away side's zone following that draw Maxim Ignatovich drives, and the goaltender energetically gets his body in the way!

    34:55
Alexey Kopeikin takes a bit of the pressure off his team here though, as lifting the puck into Barys' zone Pavel Poluektov has no other option than to freeze for a faceoff in his end

    33:41
As both sides come back to full strength Alexander Salak dives on a dangerous dump into the slot. Barys can feel a goal coming, as they keep the heat on deep inside Sibir's zone constantly!

    33:35
Starchenko! Roman Starchenko beats his markers for pace, fires with little warning, and he's unlucky to hit only the right boards behind the net!

    33:06
Icing is committed by Sibir. It has to be said that the hosts have really given Barys the initiative in the frame, as they look to protect their two goal lead!

    31:41
The referee has his arm up for a penalty here, as for both high sticking Nikolay Antropov of Barys and Sibir's Artyom Voroshilo have been sent for a two minute sit down

    30:00
Konstantin Alekseev horribly coughs up the puck by his own net, the puck is squared to the far left post, and Nigel Dawes can't stretch long enough to touch it home! That was a golden chance to get back into the game!

    28:56
Barys are continuing to create more and more chances inside their opponent's zone! From the right boards the puck is squeezed in, and the goaltender beats everyone to it to take it in!

    27:48
Mike Lundin holds the play up at the blue line, sends it in with stick flying everywhere, and Alexander Salak is alert to cover it with his glove

    26:51
Stepan Sannikov twists around with the puck taunting Barys' defencemen, shoots from between the circles, and the goalkeeper nudges it away from his net with his right shoulder!

    24:55
Away goaltender Pavel Poluektov watches a dump fly in from distance, and he comfortably sweeps it up into his glove. He has certainly been more reliable than his Slovakian counterpart Jan Laco after replacing him early on!

    24:18
Dawes! Barys forward Nigel Dawes opens up his left arm from a defence position on the left, and at the second attempt Alexander Salak covers to kill the increasing danger!

    23:46
At the other end Sibir forward Maxim Shalunov sprints past the blue line, and whacks his wrister wide of the left post! Attack is the best form of defence for these two teams!

    22:12
Alexander Salak now gently pushes out a tall wrister around blocker side. He has been flawless so far, making some wonderful saves from several positions!

    21:44
Savchenko! The puck pops out to Roman Starchenko at the point, and his thumping slapped effort is stoned by Alexander Salak's five hole! That was hit with some force!

    20:19
As we get going in the second frame it's a five on five hockey game again. These two don't like each other at all, and more rough hockey should be coming our way!

    20:01
    Start of 2nd period.

Statistics after the opening period of play:

    Shots: 19-20
    Shots on target: 12-15
    Faceoffs: 12-16
    Hits: 5-8
    Penalty minutes: 8-46

    20:00
    1st period finished.

    19:51
The end of a fiery first period is now coming up, with this shaping up to be a pulsating encounter between two physical teams!

    19:08
Lundin! Mike Lundin has space at the point, slaps as hard as he can, and sitting on his backside Alexander Salak makes a fantastic glove save to shut him down! That was highlight reel stuff!

    18:46
The penalties really are coming thick and fast! The next to be punished is Brandon Bochenski of Barys, and we won't be seeing him again as for unsportsmanlike behaviour he has been smashed with a 2+10+20 penalty! He is absolutely furious about that!

    18:11
The Kazakhs work the puck patiently to a tight angle on the left, and near post Alexander Salak sees it clearly as to catch

    17:57
That has very promptly turned into a Barys five on three, this is an ideal opportunity for Barys to get back into things! Stepan Sannikov has been called for interference, and in doing so putting his team into a sticky situation!

    17:26
However Sibir's Vitaliy Menshikov has been penalised with a four minute penalty for roughing, and it's a second powerplay in a row for the visitors!

    17:26
We have a huge fight on our hands! Konstantin Alekseev and Vitaliy Menshinkov of the hosts take on Barys' Roman Starchenko and Konstantin Rudenko, and as the gloves are dropped the referees break it all up!

    17:22
Monya! Dmitriy Monya is all alone on the doorstep, he's dished with an intelligent feed from the left, and he can only tap directly into Pavel Poluektov's chest!

    16:55
And surviving that particular scare Sibir are back at full strength. The pace won't let up at all inside the Sibir Ice Palace, no one is willing to take the heat down!

    16:40
Alexander Salak makes a couple of huge saves at point blank range! Almost on the goal line, and then glove side the Sibir goalkeeper bails his team out quite beautifully!

    14:55
Voroshilo! Shorthanded it could have been three for Sibir! Artyom Voroshilo shields the puck brilliantly with the backhand, and misses the crossbar by only inches! The goaltender would have struggled!

    14:38
Sibir have taken rather a needless penalty here, as for tripping while attacking forward Alexey Kopeikin has been found guilty of tripping

    13:45
Ignatovich! The play is set back to the blue line, Maxim Ignatovich slaps with force, and Pavel Poluektov makes his first save freezing!

    12:58
Swedish defender Patrik Hersley sees space open up in front of him at the high slot, he wrists, and covering markers get back in time as to block it!

    11:02
And that is Jan Laco's day done, as he has been pulled for Pavel Poluektov! Their head coach Andrey Nazarov had to do something as Barys are under siege!

    11:02
    Goal for Sibir!
The hosts are on fire! They are so pumped up! The puck rolls to the left of the crease, and SERGEY SHUMAKOV one times it in blocker side! It's 2:0! Assists- Oleg Gubin

    10:58
Bursting down the left wing Maxim Shalunov puts in a rising wrister on net, and Jan Laco displays a neat flash of leather to pluck it out of mid air!

    10:36
Roman Savchenko receives at the blue line, traffic is building up on Sibir's crease, and the goaltender clings on to it solidly

    10:25
Away Canadian forward Nigel Dawes flicks his wrist when skating out to the right, and Alexander Salak isn't going to let that one pass him

    09:35
They will though be relieved to come back to full strength now. They looked to be growing into things before that penalty, however the momentum has been gifted to Sibir again!

    08:55
Extended build up play eventually ends with Renat Mamashev slapping in, and a telling Barys stick tips it up and over. The visitors are under serious pressure, and are doing well as to not go completely under!

    08:19
Dmitriy Monya creeps in peeling off the right boards, and when trying to get an attempt away Barys defencemen bully him off the puck

    07:35
We have the opening penalty of the game, and it's against the visitors as defenceman Oskars Bartulis has been hit with a 2+10 penalty for checking to the head and neck area!

    06:58
How didn't that go in! Artyom Voroshilov thrashes the puck across goal from he left, Alexey Efimenko pokes away for it, and Jan Laco somehow prevents it from crossing the line!

    06:43
Home forward Alexey Efimenko twists inside the Barys defence, skates down the left, however when free he is called offside

    06:01
Dallman! That Sibir goal seems to have woken up the Kazakhs! Directly off the ensuing faceoff draw Kevin Dallman slaps, and the surronded netminder is equal to the challenge!

    05:56
Nigel Dawes strips his opponent of the puck at neutral ice, powers in down the right flank, and his dangerous attempt is stopped by Alexander Salak at the second attempt!

    04:08
Barys have their first effort on target, as Kevin Dallman's dump is comfortably pushed away by Alexander Salak. It's sure to be a fast and furious game today, both teams love to play at a high tempo!

    03:09
    Goal for Sibir!
There is that opening goal, and it's already deserved! DMITRIY MONYA lets rip from the left hand boards, and Jan Laco reacts too late to keep it out! It's 1:0! Assists- Alexey Kopeikin

    03:04
Jarno Koskiranta cuts in beyond the blue line, takes aim early, and the netminder deflects it up and out of play with his blocker. Just as I expected the hosts have begun with serious power!

    01:20
Sannikov! Sibir's Stepan Sannikov speeds deep into Barys' zone, wrists from between the circles, and goaltender Jan Laco kicks it around into the boards! He's lucky that no one could get to the rebound!

    00:07
Here we go! Sibir are always strong in Novosibirsk, and their home fans are expecting a lot from them today!
