Wow, what a game to open Group A in Breclav!

After a timid first period, the Swedes really picked up their game in the second and looked ready to run away with it, but the Swiss battled back with a pair of power-play markers in the 3rd. They then had a chance to go ahead on a last-minute penalty shot but couldn't, and instead it was the Jacob Cedarholm who provided the late heroics as Sweden win 4-3.

    Players of the Game:

    11 – Dominik Volejnicek (2 goals)
14 – Erik Brannstrom (2 assists, including the winner)

    Game over.
    59:38. Jacob CEDARHOLM - 4:3

    59:38
    Goal for Team Sweden!
Brannstrom from the halfboards to JACOB CEDARHOLM at the point, he makes a move to beat a Swiss PKer and then fires a beautiful wrister from the top of the circle that beats Wuthrich high. Power-play goal, and the power play will continue to the end.
    Assist: Erik Brannstrom.
    59:01.

    59:01
Hischier tries to go upstairs with it but Gustavsson gets a blocker on it and deflects it high.

Faceoff in the Swedish zone, Swedish PP continues.
    59:01.

    59:01
Shorthanded breakaway for Nico Hischier, a Swedish backchecker catches him with a slash and he's getting a penalty shot.

    58:44
Puck deflects out of play in the Swiss zone, off the glass so no penalty. You know the Swiss just want to get this game to OT at this point.

    57:38
Now a big collision at the Swiss line between Axel Andersson and Linus Lindstrom and Linstrom is down and hurt. Andersson has been given a major penalty for kneeing and a game misconduct! So Sweden on the PP for the rest of regulation time.

    56:59
Puck out of play, faceoff just outside the Swiss blueline.

    56:46
Now a Swedish player on the near-side boards goes down, looks like Oliver Horrsell. Play is stopped and he gets up slowly but seems to be alright. Faceoff in the Swedish zone.

    56:18
Davidsson feeds Nylander in all alone, big save Philip Wuthrich! Nylander argues as he thinks a Swiss backchecker got a stick on him, but Wuthrich saved the day there to keep it 3-3.

    55:50
Swedes back at full strength and they break out of their own zone . . .

    55:32
The Swiss put the puck in the net but it's waved off immediately. Fabian Steinmann's shot hit a stick in front and the referee was right on top of that one. Faceoff outside with :12 left in the penalty.

    54:48
Swiss back the other way, Gustavsson makes the save with :56 left in the penalty.

    54:26
Dangerous Swedish 2 on 2 rush shorthanded, Wahlgren to Oskar and Wuthrich had to be sharp to haul in his onep-timer.

    53:44
Sweden back at full strength but it looks now like Jesper Bokvist is going to the box for tripping. Swiss right back to the PP.
