    pre-game warmups

The very last game of the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup starts soon! We can expect an exciting battle as Canada is going to play Sweden for the gold medal – another big game between two classic hockey countries this time in the U18 category.

    Canada
After wining Group A the Canadians faced Russia in the semi-finals. The score stayed tied 1–1 not only after 60 minutes, but also after overtime, so the game went into a shootout. Forward Nolan Patrick scored on the first try and as he was the only successful shooter in the end, his goal decided it and moved Canada to the tournament final for the eighth time in a row.

    Sweden
The Scandinavians were second place in Group A, which means means they have played Canada already. They lost to them 2–0 on Tuesday, so today's gold medal game is a great chance for retribution. The Swedes faced Finland in the semi-finals and won 2–1 just as Canada did, but in regulation time. William Fallstrom scored the game-wining goal in the 48th minute and sent his team to the finals.
