2:4 (1:1, 1:2, 0:1)
Tappara Tampere
Thursday 20.08.2015, 19:00 • Globen Arena, Stockholm • Champions League • Group 2

The man of the match is, without any competition, the 17-year old Patrik Laine that really impressed on me with a solid and mature kind of play, despite his youth.

2 goals and 1 assist, this night belongs to you, Patrik. (21:37:24)

Mikael Tellqvist, goalie of Djurgårdens IF:

    - We started of this match really strong and everyone looked sharp. After a while Tappara managed to work their way back into the game and finally they take over the match completely. But we are still early in to the season and we cant expect to play good over 60 minutes.

    - We are trying to change our style of play going into this season, last year we played more restricted but this year we will try to be a more controlling team where we should aim for being the team that holds the puck and decides how the match is played.

Stefan Nyman, assistant coach of Djurgården:
    - I think that we tonight did both very good, and very bad things out there. We are satisfied with the good things that we did, and the bad things we will take a look at and try to learn from for future matches.

    - Overall i think that its a even game between two strong teams, its the small mistakes that's the deciding factor for Tapparas victory tonight. In my opinion we gave them three goals with individual mistakes.

    - Our penalty killing was solid tonight, and the power play resulted in two goals even though we didnt play that good in our PP.

    Shots on goal: 31-30 (10-11, 15-10, 6-9)

    PIM: 41-57
    Djurgården: 8x2min 1x5min 1x20min
    Tappara: 11x2min 1x5min 1x10min 1x20min

Despite the fact that its still just August, and the first weeks of this season, Tappara impressed in this day one with a strong team-effort and a fantastic penalty kill.

Djurgårdens IF came out strong in the first period but didnt manage to continue to play that kind of hockey for a long period of time, and the last two periods belonged to Tappara completely.

Tappara has won! 2-4 is the total score and the finnish team gets a hold of group B with this impressive victory.

    Game over.

    59:29
Lajunen gets a nice chance to increase Tapparas lead, but Tellqvist denies him.

    59:00
One minute to play is remaning of the third period.

    58:52
Its 68 seconds left on the clock, and 38 of these seconds Djurgården will play with a man disadvantage.

    58:31
Falk and Kuusela is back on the ice after their penalties and Tappara now has a 5-on-4 advantage.

    57:31
Marcus Högström, 2:00 for holding an opponent. Tappara will now play 4-on-3.

    56:28
Alexander Falk, Djurgårdens IF and Kristian Kuusela, Tappara, both gets 2:00 for roughing. We will now see a 4-on-4 play on the ice.

    56:00
And with that goal, Tappara now will win this game i dare to say. Djurgården seems to be a defeated team and doesnt show anything that tells me that they'll get back into this game.

    55:43
    Goal for Tappara!
PATRIK LAINE, the man of the match, scores on a breakaway on which he beats Tellqvist with a nice toe-drag. The goal is unassisted. 2-4

    55:10
The home crowd tries to boost some morale in their favourite team by chanting loudly. Will it work though?

    54:25
    Visiting team at full strength.

    53:50
Tappara clears the puck and Högström is forced to start over in Djurgårdens defensive zone.

    Today's attendance is 2127.
