Hello, my name is Sami Iilomo and I´m spending this evening with you. Please enjoy!

First game of the group A will be played on Friday at Espoo where HIFK Helsinki will face SC Bern from Switzerland. Game is played at Barona Areena since HIFK’s usual home rink is not available because there is Chinese circus performing.

Both of the teams played in CHL also last year. SC Bern ended up being fourth in its group but HIFK made it to the playoffs where they reached quarter-finals before losing to Frölunda. Third team on the group A is Linköping HC from Sweden.

Both teams last season in their national leagues ended up too soon at quarter finals. Bern was the second best team in regular season but lost to Lausanne HC on a seven game fight. HIFK's season ended up against Tappara from Tampere.

After last season SC Bern lost four of their five best scorers. Only 38-years old Martin Plüss stays at the team after last years dissappointment. Some of the interesting new players are former NHL-players Cory Conacher and Andrew Ebbett.

In HIFK's squad there hasn't been that many changes. Only few players left and few were signed. The captain of the team, also former SC Bern player Toni Söderholm left to EHC-Munchen but HIFK signed two Finnish defenders from KHL (Tommi Taimi and Joonas Järvinen).

There is one person who is familiar with both teams. HIFK's head coach Antti Törmänen is the former assistant and head coach of SC Bern.

    Welcome. Game starts at 17:30.
