Friday 28.08.2015, 12:00Champions Hockey League gameday liveblog

    Tonight's summary:

END Sparta Prague 1-2 Storhamar Hamar
    END Trinec 4-3 OT Stavanger
    END Munich* 1-0 Kosice
    END Bern 3-2 SO HIFK
    END Davos* 0-1 OT Farjestad
    END Frolunda 3-2 JYP

    * Indicates that the team has qualified for the next round. (22:44:02)

Artturi LEHKONEN has put Frolunda ahead for a third time now at home to JYP. Just under 8 minutes to play...

Justin Krueger hits the winning PS meaning that Bern take the extra point, 3-2 after the shootout against Helsinki.

We're having a shootout in Bern at the moment, which the home side are leading after two rounds.

    As it stands:

END Sparta Prague 1-2 Storhamar Hamar
    END Trinec 4-3 OT Stavanger
    END2 Munich* 0-0 Kosice
    OT Bern 2-2 HIFK
    END Davos* 0-1 OT Farjestad
    3RD Frolunda 2-2 JYP

    * Indicates that the team has qualified for the next round.

Robbie EARL has got an OT winner for Farjestad in Davos just under a minute into the extra period to get the SHL side a valuable two points.

Joose ANTONEN ties the game for JYP in Gothenburg at two teach with just under 13 minutes to play.

It'll be OT in Bern now, 2-2 after 60 minutes with IFK Helsinki; the same situation in Davos, although there it's gone three periods with no goals at all against Farjestad!

End of two in Gothenburg, and Farjestad still lead JYP 2-1. We're also still waiting for a goal in Davos, that game now running past 45 minutes with no score.

Oh Bern have found the tying goal, Justin Krueger getting it for them with around five minutes to go!

Six minutes left in Bern for the hosts to try and tie the game vs. HIFK, otherwise the Helsinki-side will qualify for the next round.

Pretty simple what happens now in the rest of the group with Munich already through – the two head-to-head games to come between KAC and Kosice will determine the group's other qualifier. It's basically like a playoff tie.

    Done deal!

It's not enough – Red Bull Munich take the win and qualify for the next round!

Now then... 37s to go in Munich, and Kosice are going on the PP with the netminder out too.

2:09 into the final period and Mika PARTANEN has scored for HIFK in Bern, his side now lead 2-1. Meanwhile in Munich we've got bout three minutes for Kosice to try and force this one into OT.

We have a goal in Munich, and it's a big one in terms of Group Qualification – Red Bull have scored it, and will make the play-off round if they can hold on here!

Trinec score in OT to take the extra point – although it looks like another that the Oilers' goalie will want back. Still, a decent point for Stavanger having been behind are on, and 4/6 for Norwegian teams tonight against Extraliga sides!

So we're playing OT in Trinec, and could be in Munich before long too.
Still no sign of a goal in Munich, almost 50 minutes played!

Well you can't say we haven't given you drama tonight in the opening games... and there could still be more to come with Munich and Kosice still scoreless.

To OT we go in Trinec. This is an important point for Stavanger, as it now gives them a better head-to-head record over the Czechs following their win on home ice last week.

Trinec don't get the comfort goal on the PP... and Stavanger have made them pay – it's an equaliser in the final minute!

There aren't a lot of goals around tonight, as you might have noticed. Trinec are on the PP in the final 4 minutes of their game, leading Stavanger 3-2 as things are.

    As it stands:

END Sparta Prague 1-2 Storhamar Hamar
    3RD Trinec 3-2 Stavanger
    END2 Munich 0-0 Kosice
    2ND Bern 1-1 HIFK
    2ND Davos 0-0 Farjestad
    2ND Frolunda 2-1 JYP

Well the Oilers will be kicking themselves for that – having just tied things up, they've let in a pretty soft one to put Trinec back in the lead!

What is it with these Norwegian teams? Stavanger have just tied the game in Trinec again! 2-2 there now...

A lively start to period two in Bern – the sides have traded goals and it's now 1-1 as they approach 30 minutes.

Well, who saw that coming? Norwegian Storhamar Hamar have beaten, yes BEATEN, Sparta Prague in the O2 Arena!

OH MY GOODNESS, can you believe what's happened in Prague?! Storhamar have scored with 37s to go, and lead 2-1!

JYP have tied the game up in Frolunda to make it one each in the opening period. We've also hit the intermission after to in Trinec, where the hosts lead Stavanger by 2-1.

What a chance Storhamar are having to win the game in Prague – they're going to have been on the PP for almost four minutes by the time this latest penalty is over, unless they can get the goal of course!

    As it stands:

3RD Sparta Prague 1-1 Storhamar Hamar
    2ND Trinec 2-1 Stavanger
    2ND Munich 0-0 Kosice
    END1 Bern 0-0 HIFK
    END1 Davos 0-0 Farjestad
    1ST Frolunda 1-0 JYP
Now this looks like a perfect Friday evening!

So where are we now? Well Trinec have just re-gained the lead against Stavanger!

So we've almost got all of tonight's games in play – just waiting for Frolunda vs. JYP to start at 20:00.

It's getting a bit choppy in Prague, with both sides taking some minors.

No goals yet in Munich between the Red Bulls and Kosice.

And we're just about to get started in Davos, as they host Farjestad; and in Bern with HIFK the visitors.

Kosice with a successful early PK in Munich, as Storhamar go down to three skaters for 1:28.

And that does us for period 1 in Trinec.

A tying goal for Stavanger in Trinec, 1-1 there now.

Red Bull Munich face off now against HC Kosice, with the hosts needing just a point to make the knock-out round!
Bern face Helsinki IFK in 20 minutes, and it's looking good over there too!

Shocker in Prague? Well, not yet but Storhamar are having a gao- they've taken the lead against Sparta!

Rotislav KLESLA puts Trinec 1-0 up against Stavanger on the PP!

So we're still waiting our opening goal, almost 40 minutes in to today's CHL day...

Period one over in Prague, where Sparta and Storhamar have yet to find a goal between them.

Period one is just starting in Trinec, with Stavanger Oilers the visitors.
Warm-up also under way in Munich...

We are warming up in Trinec now, where that game vs. Stavanger gets going in 13 minutes.

An important PK there for Storhamar.

Power break in period one, as Sparta now prepare to go on the PP.

Sparta kill that off, and we're back to five skaters each.

A decent start in the O2 Arena for both sides, certainly the fan clubs at each end are getting some atmosphere going. Early chance here for the Norwegians, as Martin Reway sits for Hooking.

Underway in Prague then – a win puts the hosts in the next round!
    Gametime in Prague!

So we're almost ready to go in Prague! If you're new to this, then this live blog will keep you updated with all of the action across the six games today. Click on the individual games above to get live updates from our bloggers at the rink!

Just 20 minutes until today's CHL action begins!

At 19:00, it's over to Trinec for the visit of Stavanger. After their overtime loss in Kuopio, Trinec at least have a point on the board – but following a loss to the Oilers in Stavanger, the home side really needs to go out and get a win on home ice tonight. The Czech club lost the corresponding fixture last season, and cannot afford a similar slip-up this time around.

“We have some injured players but, personally, I don’t like to make excuses. Our roster is deep enough and others can get a chance now. It’s on every one of them to prove they should be members of this team,” says Trinec netminder Peter Hamerlik. “We still want to advance and we have to do everything to win our next game against Stavanger. We don’t have anywhere to hide, since we fell into a little ‘hole’ now. We have to win this game!”

    Tonight's possibilities

Sparta Prague are through to the next round with a win over Storhamar.

Helsinki IFK will qualify for the next round if they beat Bern tonight in regulation – despite it only being their second game!

A point against Farjestad is good enough to put HC Davos into the next round; the situation is true for Red Bull Munich as they entertain Kosice.
Bearded Clan's players are certainly confident ahead of their home CHL games...

The first game to start tonight is Sparta Prague hosting Shorhamar Hamar. The Czech club narrowly beat Storhamar last week, and then lost in overtime in Geneva.

“We are satisfied with our four points from two away games. Now it would be great to win our first game in O2 Arena, which could get us into the playoffs,” says forward Petr Kumstat. “The Norwegians are a tough team to play again, as they are aggressive. They have some big players, so we have to make sure to finish our checks. They are also strong around both goals.”
