The Sheffield Steelers made them work for it, but as the buzzer goes, it is JYP Jyvaskyla who take all three points and ultimately, qualification from Group N, with a 3-2 victory at the Sheffield Arena. Despite being outshot, the Liiga side finished victorious as Joose Antonen netted the game winner mid-way through the final period. The Steelers looked the better side through twenty minutes, as Robert Dowd scored to give the hosts the lead. However, JYP rallied in the second period, Joonas Nattinen drawing level, before taking the lead through Valtteri Hotakainen’s poacher-like goal. Mathieu Roy equalised for the Steelers with two and a half minutes to go in the second period, but the Steelers failed to claw back the lead after Antonen’s goal. Veini Vehvilainen made a fantastic save late in the game to deny Steelers’ forward Tyler Mosienko, and as the time ran down, the home side pulled Tyler Plante in order to try and find the equaliser. However, Janne Tavi scored into the empty-net, his third point of the night. JYP remain in second in Group N with six points from three games, but most importantly, have also now qualified for the Round of 32.
