Saturday 05.09.2015, 12:00Champions Hockey League gameday liveblog

So that was another eventful day in the CHL – just one more to go as we close of the group stages, we hope you'll join us tomorrow evening for more! (22:44:50)

So only one game left, and Frolunda are leading in Sheffield 4-1.

Another ENG, and Braehead have their game 6-4!

Mannheim beat Vitkovice on penalty shots to win their group – both teams advance though.

Braehead are in the lead again! Ingolstadt pulled out the goalie to go for the win they needed to finish top of the group, but the Clan have found the empty net!

Just over two minutes to play north of the border, and Braehead finally get it going on their PP to equalise again against Ingolstadt, a 4-4 game there.

Frolunda look to have moved clear of Sheffield now, 3-1 with 9:38 remaining in the Steel City.

Pardubice have done it again, and conceded a late goal to lose the game... this time it's Dario Simion with 28s on the clock in Davos, 4-3 to the home team.

Pardubice have equalised in the last minute of their game in Davos!

Overtime now in Mannheim – whoever out of them and Vitkovice wins will take the group, simple as that.

Frolunda back ahead in Sheffield, a goal with 14:57 to play in the final period. Both teams from the UK now behind again.

That go-ahead goal for Braehead obviously woke Ingolstadt up a bit, as they've now hit another to lead 4-3.

They can't hold the lead though, Ingolstadt level again with 14 minutes to play.

Chris Bruton puts Braehead back in the lead against Ingolstad with a shorty!

7-1 Linkoping, Bern must want this game to end fast.

Final period in Braehead begins, the last action we'll see of the Clan in the CHL for this year.

Bern have totally collapsed – Linkoping 6-1 up.

Sheffield hold out until the period break, to be tied with Frolunda at 1-1 after 40 minutes.

A goal that changes things in the battle to win Group I – Vitkovice equalise in Mannheim, and now just need another to beat their hosts to top spot.

We're tied in Sheffield! The Steelers draw themselves level with 4:10 remaining in the middle period, Nelson the scorer.

40 minutes played now as well in Glasgow, with Braehead and Ingolstadt tied at two each.

Period 3 underway in Mannheim and Salzburg now.

Ingolstadt are back level in Braehead, Tomas Kubalik getting the equaliser there. In Sheffield, the Steelers still trail Frolunda by a goal but have just killed off a 5-on-3.

Through 40 minutes in Mannheim with the home side still 1-0 up against Vitkovice. HV71 lead 2-1 in Salzburg and Linkoping are 3-1 ahead in Bern as those two games also have their next intermission.

The Clan have scored again, and now lead Ingolstadt 2-1!

A goal in Glasgow, and it's got most of the arena on its feet – Matt Keith equalises for the Clan!

As both games in the UK get underway for period two, Davos have moved out to lead Pardubice 3-1.

Jakub Lilja puts Linkoping now 3-1 ahead of Bern... the hosts need to pull something out of the bag here to make it through.

All over in Oulu – Karpat beat Vienna 4-0 and advance to the next round conceding just one goal.

Melin puts HV71 back in the lead in Salzburg, 2-1.

Also now the end of one period in Sheffield, where Frolunda have a 1-0 lead over the Steelers.

Period three in Oulu sees Karpat moving on to 4-0 ahead in Vienna, and at this rate would finish the group stage having given up just one goal!

Period one over in Glasgow, Ingolstad holding a one-goal lead.

A goal for Frolunda with 3:28 left on the board in the opening period in Sheffield – it came on the PP as Matheiu Roy sat a high-sticking minor.
    Done deal

And that results also eliminates KalPa

End of the period in Bern, where Linkoping have completed their comeback and now lead 2-1. It's also the break in Salzburg, where the Red Bulls and HV71 are tied at one.

Not the start Braehead wanted – Ingolstad 1-0 ahead early on.

So the two EIHL teams now start their CHL swan-songs for this season. Neither Braehead or Sheffield can qualify, but they could get their league and country's first points in this season's competition.
Good number of Ingolstadt fans have made the trip to Glasgow. Meanwhile in Trinec, it's now 6-0 to the hosts. KalPa are going out.

Some goals to catch up on then...

    HV71 lead in Salzburg 1-0
Mannheim have gone 1-0 ahead at home to Vitkovice in a game to win the group
Bern lead Linkoping 1-0 and could knock Helsinki out if they win
Davos open the scoring against Pardubice, 1-0.

Starting at 19:45 then we have Bern hosting Linkoping – where the hosts needs at least two points to make the next round and knock IHK Helsinki out. Davos are also hosting Pardubice in the other game starting shortly.

Games now starting in Salzburg and Mannheim, as Trinec have hit five against KalPa!

It's 3 goals in 4 minutes as HRNA and ORSAVA have put Trinec four goals to the good against KalPa – odds on to qualify now you'd think.

In 20 minutes the games in Salzburg and Mannheim start. The Red Bulls are hosting HV71 in a game that won't change the group standings, while the Adler entertain Vitkovice in a match that could decide the group winners.

5-on-3 powerplay for Trinec, and Zbynek IRGL puts the home side 2-0 now. Are KalPa heading out of the CHL?

In Oulu, Karpat and Vienna finish period one with no score
What a great thing to take with you on an away trip – a cardboard cut-out of your favourite player!

Trinec and KalPa are back on the ice for period two. In Finland, there's no score between Karpat and Vienna, although there have been a couple of decent hits.

If you've not seen the opening goal for Liberec, make sure you check it out on the highlights... serious net minding error!

15:21 on the board in Trinec, and David NOSEK puts the home side 1-0 up on KalPa. At the same time, the game between Oulu and Vienna is starting – but there's not a great deal other than pride to play for in that one.

No early goals in Trinec yet. Remember that in this group, Stavanger have already qualified – so both sides need to win to get through, although KalPa could sneak it with an OTW.
And as that game finishes, we now head off to Trinec where KalPa are the visitors.

    Done deal

All done in Prague, Sparta win 5-2 and advance to the next round. Geneva bow out.

Game, set, and match to Sparta in Prague – 5-2 up now.

Geneva have got the goalie out with 5:50 to play as they go on a PP – they need three goals.

Bit of drama over in Prague – Martin Reway is awarded a penalty shot for Sparta, and then some 'excitement' after the whistle results in some gloves off and punches throw. Sparta won't care though, they now lead 4-2.

    Game over

All done in Skelleftea, the hosts win 5-2 and win their group.
This one gets going at 18:00

Liberec have a goal back in Skelleftea, but still trail 5-2. In Prague, the teams are back playing for the final period.

    As things stand

So it's still 5-1 to Skelleftea, which means they'll go through a group winners.

Geneva need two goals to turn the game around in Prague, otherwise it'll be Sparta who qualify.

Back on the ice in Skelleftea, no change though to the situation for Liberec and in fact it's getting worse... 5-1 now to the home team.

Remember that Sparta only need to tie this game to make the next round – Geneva must win in regulation to get themselves through.

Oh dear Geneva – just equalised, and now they've conceded again to trail 3-2!

Well – it's all to play for now in Prague, Geneva level at two each!

Two periods down in Skelleftea, and it's all gone wrong for visitors Liberec in the middle period – they now trail 4-1.

Geneva are back in the game in Prague, reducing the deficit back to 1-2 early in period two.

It's all gone wrong for Liberec – they now trail 4-1 in Skelleftea after some quick goals for the hosts.

We're also out for period two in Skelleftea.

20 minutes gone in Prague and Sparta are in the driving seat with a two goal lead.

Sparta now 2-0 up with a goal straight off the face-off !

Martin Reway gets the opening goal in Prague, Sparta now 1-0 ahead!

So just over four minutes in, and we're scoreless in the Sparta-Geneva game.

Michal Repik ties the game for Liberec in Skelleftea.

Team news from Prague is that Cody Almond doesn't ice for Geneva.

Jimmie Ericsson opens the scoring for Skelleftea who take an early 1-0 lead!

In 15 minutes we'll also be live in Prague for the visit of Geneva.

Off we go in Skelleftea, the game vs. Liberec has started!

So remember, getting the game to overtime vs. Liberec means Skelleftea win the group – Liberec need to win in regulation to move top.
The Eisbaren are heading to Gap!
