    This is the bronze medal game of the 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup. Sweden and Russia faced each other on the first day of the tournament, with Sweden winning 3-1. That win gave them the tiebreaker as they finished even with Russia in points, and for that reason they will be the home team in this game.

    Sweden finished 1st in the Bratislava Group with 6 points. Yesterday they lost 2-1 in overtime to the Czech Republic in Břeclav in the semi-finals to arrive in this game. Russia finished 2nd in the Bratislava Group with 6 points. Yesterday they lost 4-3 in overtime to the United States in the semi-final here in Bratislava.
