Before first match in CHL, Košice played three friendly games against Slovakian teams. HC defeated Martin two times (2:1 after shootout and 6:2) and Zvolen 6:3.
SC Bern have so far failed to set the CHL alight, failing to qualify from their group in both of the past two seasons – and only posting three wins, two of which were on penalty shots, in their 10 CHL matches so far. This is the third straight season that they start their campaign on the road, but this time go into the competition as Swiss Champions.
Bern played only two matches before CHL a won both. SC defeated Visp 2:1 and Biel 4:3 in overtime.
